Would you dress your baby in black?

I am quite fond of wearing black myself - as in black pants, winter coats or even stockings! The other day I had a piece of black clothing on all of my children and a lady at the shops commented that she didn't think that black was an appropriate colour for babies! I was quite taken aback because it wasn't like I had her dressed all in black, she just had a black pair of pants on, black patent leather shoes with a purple top - I thought she looked cute and stylish myself!
So what do you think, is black an inappropriate colour for babies? What age is it acceptable to introduce black into your childs wardrobe?
Just so you know, I will be dressing my children in any colour that I deem fit!

I don't see anything wrong with your baby wearing black pants. Dark colours are all the rage, aren't they? Besides, you can team black up with any other colour and I would imagine it looks quite smart on the kids. I really don't think it's any business of anybody else's, especially to the point of making a remark on it. How rude!
You go ahead my friend, and dress your kids in whatever colour you want to dress them in, and tell the busybodies to butt out! lol. Brightest Blessings.

Nothing wrong with a kid wearing black. Of course, may be hard to find black baby clothing. I wear a lot of black too so I understand your pain.

If I were in that situation I would have told the lady to mind her own dang business!!!
If it was a black dress with some little coloured trimmings on it, I'd dress the baby in black. I'd also use the outfit you suggested. On a little boy, a black outfit with a coloured shirt would work too.

I don't have kids, so take this with a grain of salt, but I wore black as a child, and I an nearly guarantee when I have a child, they will wear black as well. Not all black mind you, but what you described is fine. Depending on my mood, I would have either just stayed quiet, or said something along the lines of "If you're going to tell me what MY child should and should not go, I'll gladly obey your wishes if you'd like to buy them non-black clothing".

Anything you want to do is fine.
My little girl loves pinks, but that is just her.
She would wear a black t-shirt if it had a crazy
cool rainbow on it. Or Dora the Explorer.
Course, she's just four.
I'm sure your kids dress great.
Please don't let a stranger's words
depress you.
Black is fine.
So is any color.
Just do what you want.
I'll bet your children love their clothes.
Kids are the best barometer of fashion, anyway!

I'd never thought about this before. Although I have no problem with black, I don't think my youngest owns a single item that is black. Most of his clothes have come to use second hand though, so I've never really made a decision about them.
If you're happy with dressing your kids in black items then I'd say carry on with it. I can't see anything wrong with it at all.

That sounds like a cute outfit. Everyone has a right to their own opinions. As mothers we take what people say regarding our children very seriously.

I believe that everyone does have a right to their opinions. I guess mothers also have a right to protect their children and stand up for their parenting desicions.

I love black colour as it is the easiest colour to match other colour, for me it works perfectly. I like to wear a black skirt to match different types and colours of blouses or shirts. And I dress my girl more or less the same. Although my girl likes pink colour, she also has black dresses, skirts and shoes. Once her friends joked that she wore the same outfit as me, my girl replied as the clothing get shrunk while washing. LOL

hi, well my favourite colour is black too. i do like wearing black quite a lot though i would rather not see a baby in black. i just feel children should be in lovely bright colours full of lovely colours. Kids are happy and bright colours somehow reveal a happy feeling thats all.

made byrobyn you have a right to dress your kids in any
color you want. they are your kids. I have never thought of
black in regards to children but why not, we all use black
along with other colors. each person has his own tastes
and who are we to say any color is wrong?

I love black clothes. It's practically the only colour I own...that and plaid.
Why isn't black an appropriate colour for babies? The colour black is everywhere in the world! It should be appreciated.
Once my kids are old enough to pick out their own clothes and dress themselves, they can wear whatever they want. If they want to wear black, so be it! Silly ladies at shops can kiss my butt.

When I think of babies i think of bright summer like colors. I would dress my baby in black but nothing to over the top . I would be one to switch all the colors up.I think the way she was dressed sounds cute as well . I don't get people sometimes !
