Yes! at the end of the day it is me and the man I love and not me and his family...if they don't like me fine, i won't go out fo my way to get them to like or accept me, but at the same time I won't disrespect them and will simply do my best to avoid tensions and uncomfortable moments.

Real love does not expect anything except love. If there is true love between two and if they decide to marry, why should they bother whether the family cares or not?

I am not really sure, I guess it depends. I know that I do love my husband and I know that inlaws can be a bit of a hassle or let's admit it, a necessary baggage. I guess it would depend on the situation, if my hubby was really close to his family and hated me, I am not sure how I would deal with it, I think family can sometimes say a lot about the person you are with but then again who knows, My hubby is nothing like his family I am not sure how that is but I think it is due to my influence. Sometimes I think maybe I made him a better person but then again maybe I made him worse? I am not sure.... What would you do?

Yes, If I really loved this person and he asked me to marry him, I would do so.After all, it is not his family that you have to please or live with.All you have to do is be sival to them.It is not like you will be around them all of the time. There are a lot of people out there that will never approve of anyone that their children choose to marry.

If you love the person what does it matter? You are not really marrying their family. But in a way you are. If you can be civil about it then there should be no problem. If my fiances parents didn't like me I would still marry him just because I love him. That is all that matters.

I did. Ok well just his mom doesn't like me even though she tries to play nice when he is around. But she is constantly trying to get us in fights. she lies about me and my sister in law (hubby's brothers wife). No one is good enough for her boys but I got it worse because I married her baby boy. It will be hard but if you truly love the person then go for it.
