My daughter is getting married August 2, 2008. She got engaged at Christmas time 2007. I am way excited about the whole wedding and have become the wedding planner. We decided that we would have the wedding and reception at our house. My mom and I made her dress and the bridesmaid dresses. I never thought things would get so expensive. I had thought we would spend around 3 grand or so, but that has doubled. We made the invitations, which turned out very pretty and did save money, we bought seeds and planted the flower beds. We have been collecting our center pieces from the thrift stores. Plus going to the dollar tree for things we can't find at the thrift stores. The groom wanted to have the wedding catered, to make things easier on all of us for the big day. I am grateful, but it costs $1500.00, which is cheap because we are having 200 people. This is a great expense but it was very important to him, which he is paying, but still I thought we would get away cheaper by doing it ourselves. I guess I just keep thinking of when I got married and had to pay for everything and still only spent less than 2 grand, of course that was 25 years ago. Everything costs so much these days and with the gas prices going up it is just getting worse. I have gotten great ideas off the internet and from talking with people. The wedding will be beautiful and I am grateful for the opportunity to plan it or her. I have really learned alot about weddings. I will take any ideas people have for an outdoor wedding.

I'm sure it will be beautiful and your daughter is very lucky to have a mom who would do so much for her. With that being said, if you haven't thought of favors yet for her guests, I have been looking online for a friend who is getting married at a wedding hall but having a garden theme which is also in August on the 22nd. The favors are seeds for flowers that are in either little pouches or envelopes and have the name of the bride and groom along with the date and some even have a saying like love starts with a planted seed and soon blossoms... You get the idea but would need a better saying since I am by no means Shakespeare.lol... But you can buy the seeds which are inexpensive and buy small blank envelopes from a local store or online and then print them yourself and just find a good saying online there ae lots and the whole idea goes with the theme of a home summer wedding.

I made seed cards, they are great idea. I bought my seeds from the dollar tree. 10 packs for 1 dollar. On one side I have their names and date and the other side says. Thank you for sharing this special day, please plant these seeds to create a garden of lasting memories. I made the seed card like a big book mark and then folded it in half like a tent, taped the seed packet on the bottom. They are about 12 cents apiece and look like they cost a lot more. I also did a real nice scroll, wrapped it with dollar store rings. The scroll has the same saying as my sister had on her scroll in 1978. Kind of sentimental. We have dollar store bubbles, I bought labels and printed them with their name and date and put them on the bubbles. I have found good information off the internet and from the help of people like you. Thanks for your idea.

Try ask The Wedding Group One, yes they are expensive but never the less it won't hurt asking.
