This is a discussion on how you can improve the speed of your Windows Operating System.
Step1
Click "Start". If "My Computer" is already a shortcut for you skip to step 4.
Step2
Go to "Programs" or "All Programs" depending on your view.
Step3
Then go to "Accessories" and click "Windows Explorer"
Step4
From there Right click "My computer" and then Left Click "Properties"
Step5
Then click the "Advanced" tab and then the "Settings" button under Performance.
Step6
From there click on "Adjust for best performance" and then click "Ok"
Step7
It will look something It will look a little more plain, but it will improve your PC performance.

The reason why there is an improvement in speed is because "Adjust for best performance" will disable all graphical effects and use simple colors. That will really work if you wont mind seeing Xp or Vista like Windows 2000, no gradient colors, no menu transitions, mouse pointer has no shadow even Vista's transparent window will appear plain.

If you can do this then try editing prefetcher through registry editor it decrease the time application take to load. You can also give a bit more paging memory.
