Did you ever skip class?

I don't think I could have gotten away with skipping class in high school, even if I had wanted to. In college it would be easier, but did anyone ever take the opportunity? Any of you skip class in any of the grades you were in? In college I never wanted to miss anything because I didn't want to get behind. I think it was because I started college early, and for a while I was always afraid I wouldn't understand as well as the others, but after a while I realized I didn't have to worry about that. I found a lot of kids didn't care if they showed up or not! I felt sorry for their parents who were paying for their education!

Actually I have skipped class my senior year in highschool a few times. I just wanted to try something exciting and out of the ordinary and that was skip school because it was something that I have never done. Unfortunately skipping class 3x in a row was not a good idea, especially when your vice principal knows your parents. Lol.

I wouldn't have gotten away with it and I didn't. As a kid and as a teen I was home sick alot so I did skip school and junior high more often than I wished I had. Luckily I could take my books home and work at home in my bed to keep up with the other kids. Now that I'm in college it's not obligated to be attending all the lessons, but hey, I'm paying for college myself and I'm very passionate about it so I want to take in as much as possible. Not being able to go to school every day in my youth might be one of the triggers today that keeps me going and wanting to get as much information as possible. Not everyone feels this way though, I know a lot of people that skip classes either to work or to hang out with friends or another reason. It's not illegal in college but it still feels like something wrong. If I stay away from my colleges I'm throwing away my own money, but a lot get it from their parents and are pretty easy about it and just stay away. Sometimes I feel jealous because they don't know how lucky they are their parents can afford it and they take it all for granted.

I've NEVER skipped school. I didn't even know we could till I got to college and some of my classmates were discussing how they used to skip classes in school! I was shocked, to say the least. It's possible that I never considered the possibility because I mostly attended Catholic schools and they are very strict...and anyways I enjoyed school...and wouldn't want to miss any class.

Though I didn't skip classes in college either, most of my classmates did and it was no big deal. But like you, I didn't trust anyone else's notes but mine. But the downside was that my notes were always borrowed by the others who skipped class.

I always went to a Christian school, so they were pretty strict too. Skipping class was a big deal. In college I just did not want to miss something. You really can't rely on getting notes and assignments from other classmates, because sometimes they don't even pay attention. I never trusted anyone's notes but my own.

I was too scared to skip classes in high school - I might have skipped one class in the last semester of the last grade, probably in the last week of school before graduation, but that's about it. However, college was a different story. I missed many classes due to many reasons. The main reason was that some classes were just too early in the morning and I couldn't wake up to attend them. Some classes I'd miss mid-day if I think the day's topic wasn't necessary or important. And some days, the weather would just be too nice and I'd want to be outside instead. I wouldn't skip a class if I felt that it was important for me to attend. But I'd find that a lot of the classes I missed, I could just read up on the day's corresponding section in the textbook and teach myself and it worked - most of the time. It also helped if you knew somebody in class who you could exchange notes with. So sometimes, I'd get notes from a classmate if I missed a class. And if they missed a class another day, I'd give them my notes. And finally, I paid for my own education, so I felt I was only letting myself down if for some reason I didn't do good in a class. Luckily, I got very good grades in school.

I never skipped classes in high school when it was free. Instead I waited until college when I was paying for the classes before I started skipping. Once I started I did a really good job at it too. Funny how that freedom led to poor decision making.

Lol. You're such a good student back way then. I am not being sarcastic, you are good. To me, I think I am not that good. I often skip my classes especially those classes which I hated most. When I took the matriculation for two years, I had to take the Accounting subject. I never had any basics in accounting, because during my intermediate education I took domestic science until third year. In the fourth and fifth year, I took pure science. Entering matriculation without even knowing what is debit and credit, which is the most basic in accounting made me feel so left behind. Everyone else is way ahead, and when I asked them about what is this and what is that, they would make a puzzled impression and that's it. I'm fed up. So I didn't attend the accounting class for almost every session. I really hated being there because I think there is no point for me learning something which is so alien to me. Even my lecturer never asked me why I was like that. She should have done something to help me. Well, I pity my parents too but in a situation like that, it is better that I quit and take a course which I am familiar with. Now I have already graduated and I am a Bachelors (Honours) Degree holder in Business Studies and Administration.

I remember that we had an egyptian airplane hijacked in Malta in the 1980's. Our school was near the airport, so some of my friends thought that it was more exciting going to the airport by walk and discover things for ourselves than remaining seated to hear the lessons.

Looking back then, I never did even if I had the chance. Those were hard earned money my father work for just to give me good education and then skipping class is their reward? I did not do it even if I had the chance.

There were a few times when I cut a class here or there while I was in college. High school was a nightmare for me, so anytime an opportunity presented itself to skip school, I took it. But college was different. I was an "adult learner" meaning I went back to college in my early thirties. While I was was the one to pay the tuition, I figured I could afford to skip a class here and there, especially if my child was sick or if I had another assignment or paper to get finished for another class. Fortunately enough for me, my transcripts reflect an almost perfect set of grades with only two B's during my entire academic career. My mother used to say that education was wasted on the yong, and I think I agree with her to a certain degree. Many kids I met in school were only going to school so their parents would pay for tuition, cars, rent, food, etc., and the kids didn't have to work full-time jobs. Now, those are the kids I feel sorry for the most because they will struggle in the real world. Sad but true.

When I first started college I heard a lot of jokes about the girls wanting to get their MRS degree. That really burned me, inmplying that the females came to college just to catch a husband. I soon realized, it was half true! Some of the girls really did come to just find a husband. And when some of them got married, they actually dropped out of college. Apparently they got what they wanted, and were content to let their now husbands finish college, but not them.

I have never skipped worked but use to skip school quite a lot until my delightful next door neighbour told my mum and boy did I get into trouble for it. I think I was grounded for a fortnight and given all my brothers chores to do as well as my own. Ellie :D

I skipped class a lot in the 11th grade in high school. In college, i am more mature and no how important my education is.

I skipped class many times my freshman and sophomore years of high school. I was busy getting my social education. It wasn't until my junior year that I decided that grades were important. I knew without a scholarship I would not be able to attend college. I was very careful never to miss class in college since I was paying for it myself.

hi ambiepam! in gradeschool i never escaped a class. although there was a time i faked a stomach ache that my mother allowed me to absent for a day. ^__^;; back in high school, i think i never skipped a class. during my first and second years, i was so afraid to miss a class because i don't like to fail a subject. in my third and fourth years, i was enjoying my high school days that i never wanted to be absent and miss good times with friends. and then back during college, i skipped a class once. just for the fun of it. the irony of it was, i never had fun and didn't enjoy it. well, i guess i had a little fun since i was with some friends. but all the while i was thinking of the lecture that i might be missing. the only consolation i thought was that it wasn't a major subject and i could find in books whatever the lecture given that day. but i never skipped class again because i didn't like the mixed feelings. i was having a little fun but i was worried at the same time. it wasn't purely fun. it is really sad how the young people of today take advantage of everything. the money their parents are spending on their education, the time they are supposed to be spending on their studies, their chance to study. i myself get annoyed at my teenage nephew and niece when they are skipping classes for no reason at all. i guess it depends on the adults around them to make them understand how important education, time and money are.

I was a good girl all through school. When not sick, I went to everyone of my classes. It was better than being at home or hanging out and getting into trouble, and I enjoy learning, so going to class was always a priority for me.

Hey there unfortunately I did quite a bit of the time as school just was not my think and if I did not I skipped school if I could turn back time how ever I would of been a bit better then I had been the worst think about school as I recall though I use to all ways get detitons then my form teacher would be extremely mad at me and he was also my physical education teacher so when ever I get in trouble and got a detion or got in trouble at all and went to ask a question he had asked any one in my class he would tell me that he did not want to know from me and just turn around and ask some one else in the class all over again as though I did not exist right then.god be with you in all you do. love loveyoohbaby xoxo.

I only skipped lunch in high school because I knew I would get into trouble. One time in middle school I went to enrichment class instead of english, because I was doing so well in school, I was able to go to this special class. Well lunch time they called me up to the front and handed me the phone, my mom was so upset almost crying because she was worried. I'm so glad I never skipped class, I would feel so bad. In college if you were late, they would close and lock the door so you couldn't get in. So I had to skip class if I was late, but I paid for my own college so no guilt to my parents.

Hi, I never skipped class when I was in High school, except for the time that we skipped an event (does it count as a class) just to play computer games, but we were caught and had pretty much a long explaining to do, but we got off the hook. Now in college, I manage to skip class ONLY for special reasons, like when I had to do something urgent, or to give way for my thesis, but I do have some reasons that well, are not so special like sleeping during breaks at my home then not waking up on time for class. I don't want to skip class because I do not want to miss the lessons, yeah that's what we pay for, but sometimes, it's just so boring. Haha, well, cheers!
