Isn't this rude?

Some responses to greetings leave a lot to be desired. I am particuarly left with a sour taste in the mouth by the following response. 'Goodmorning/afternoon/evening, Sir/Madam.' The answer, 'To you'.
Then there's the gem of all times, 'How do you do?' The answer, 'How do you do?' Don't you people find these answers to be rude? Let me know what you think about them?

I don't find them rude. It's just how people talk. That's my opinion anyway.
