difference between ego and prestige

iam really confused today. can some one help me out to tell me what is the difference between ego and prestige.i had a tiff with my husband on this

ego is deals with your self while prestige deals with your reputation...

Presitge is when you have a high standing in an organization or a community, a good reputation and you have some influence with others.
Ego is when you believe that you have prestige, when you may not have any at all.
