The State Council of the Chinese government issued a ban on free plactic bags in supermarkets, department store and all other markets on Jan.1,2008, which means the plastic bags used to be free of charge will not be provided for custmers. Are the plastic bags free of charge in your country?

Well i do have to say that this kind of ban was taken many years before in foreign countries. Even though it's late in China but we still have to say it's a nice try!
But consider this when you finish your shopping with your hands full do you think it's good if can have a bag? Plastic bags are still available in malls you only need to pay several Jiao. People would still buy plastic bags.
Here is my counter-plan that is replace plastic bags with recycled paper bags.
That'll solve two questions in a step, give people convenience while reduce possible pollution.

Yes i can't agree more. Anything on this planet is a double-blade sword, isn't it?
In my university we began to use environmental-friendly bags since May.
Now all of the students in our university don't use plastic bags.
But we still need bear in our hearts is that we just started, that'll be a long and winding road.
Thanks for making my response the best response.
Just have a nice day without plastic bags!

Maybe the recycled paper bags would create new problems, which resources would be flowing up faster. Here some people use bamboo basket instead.

In china 65% of the people think highly of the ban, for white pollution must be dealt with urgently. but 7% think that there is no point forbidding shopping bags like this. I can not image the world overcrowded with plastic bags.
