Can you get $300 worth of groceries for 24.35? Just as an example of course. Or do you just shop willy nilly and hope you have enough to cover the cost?
I am a willy nilly person. I just toss stuff in and pray the whole way to the checkout. Then again, I don't tend to buy too many coupon items and the like. Lowcarb doesn't exactly allow for it.

We have two hundred dollars to feed five of use for a month. It is hard to do but we manage. The hardest part is that I am gluten free and that makes some things more expensive. I also buy as much unprocessed food as possible and make what every we eat from scratch. This makes using coupons almost worthless because it is very rare for coupons to be issued for basic foods. They are usually for high processed stuff that I can not eat any way.

I think you are right there. We also do the major shopping early in the month and then later the things that we have bought will go on sale. The site suggests that you watch for these sales and then stock up. That is good but we have really small pantry and little cupboard space.

Oh, we have the cupboard space, but by the time the beginning of the month comes, we are in need. Since my daughter had all her heart and weight problems this year, we get assistance and it just doesn't stretch far enough. I cannot wait until August when I can go get a job, now that babygirl is doing much better.

I know how that is! I am on the no gluten/wheat/sugar/whatnot diet and it is dang hard. Not to mention that I refuse to buy a majority of the crap foods because most of them have dyes, petroleums and other chemicals that just don't need to be in our bodies.

I think I'm pretty good at getting groceries on the cheap. I tend to check the sales papers on the weekends and see what could be of use to me and how much it is. If I know I could use it and it doesn't look like it will break the bank, I'll buy it. And, I do like using coupons on things that I know I'll use or use all the time to save money.

I never think stuff is cheap enough though. I really wish I lived somewhere that had farmers markets. I mean the real ones. We have small stands, but the nearest big one is 40-50 miles away.

I have found time and again that store brands are less expensive than name brands, even with a coupon, so I never use them. I do watch for the sales though which is why I have two jars of mayo and two bottles of ketchup even though I didn't need any of either one. I just love buy one, get one free!

Well, I guess some of the premise is to shop on the double and triple coupon days so that you get the name brand for free or next to it.

Tanniebabe, yes I am frugal when shopping, and try to use my coupons! I made some comments earlier on this subject, when I first joined MyLot (Advice on Saving). There are ways to save, on just about everything...but it takes work! Just this weekend, we saved about $250.00 or more on a 3GB laptop, we researched for months. In the deal, the printer was included, $50.00 off. If anyone out there has advice on saving... I am listening...LOL! PS: I do not just buy the item because I have a coupon, that defeats the purpose, but buy my brands, the ones I trust.

That is a darn good deal! I am looking for external hard drives. I flinch at the thought of paying $100 even if I do get 500 GBs!
