For the past week my son has been falling asleep and about 1 1/2 hours later waking up sweating and crying for mommy. Someone told me he is having bad dreams, how does a 22 month old have bad dreams? Has anyone else had this happen with their kids, and what was something you did to help them overcome it?

I just asked my mother who was an RN for over 20 years, she says that you may want to have him checked out physically to make sure nothing is going on. I'm not sure how a 22 month old could have nightmares, but if I could offer my opinion, the world is very new to him still, probably a lot of things he doesn't understand that confuse him. Not to scare the daylights out of you, but I've also heard that young children are susceptible to spirits, which I somewhat believe, since they are so new to this world that their connection to spirits may be stronger than anyone else could realize. When I was younger I had dreams of continuously falling, I'm not sure how young I was though, my mother just remembers them. That and I dreamed of terrifying clowns.
