More and more American companies are leaving the U.S. in search of cheap labor. My question to anyone who may have an answer is, what is the difference between moving a company to Mexico or China and paying the workers there $2.00 a day, or hiring an illegal immigrant here in the U.S. Isn't it kinda the same thing, using cheap labor? Except one is sanctioned by the U.S. Government and one is illegal. Let me know what everyone thinks.

Hello TCampbell,
Ahhhh, but the latest corporate news is that the out-of-control fuel costs have created a new impediment to U.S. businesses moving their manufacturing overseas (for cheap labor), AND still being able to capitalize on the U.S. love of consumerism! So, the corporate word is that it will be less expensive to keep their manufacturing capablities here -- if their primary sales market is the USA.
As with most any aspect of the U.S. economy, the rising fuel costs create a double-edged sword, where the dull edge is much more palatable as the variables shift!
The key is to render the USA as independent of foreign oil sources as possible, and render it tax/tariff unfriendly enough to import our own products back to us. This is not rocket science! If we elect our representative wisely, we can find the balance. Balance, or moderation was the very sage advise of one of America's greatest thinkers -- Mr. Benjamin Franklin. Now we need only effort ourselves toward the election of representatives who will carry out that sage wisdom!

Well, thank you TCampbell!
I believe it is the responsibility of anyone who wishes to 'spout' political opinion to perform their own due diligence.
In this day and age of so many demands on our time, those folks who peruse the 'political' departments of social networking sites, are obviously seeking an 'everyman', informed perspective. As such, if we do not provide a reasoned, informed opinion, then we offer no assistance at all -- just more 'spew'. And, none can argue that there isn't already a plethora of uninformed 'spew' on the web -- grrrrrrrr!
Anyway, thank you for the kind words!

I believe that businesses who operate abroad pay lower taxes than those that operate in the U.S. so, add that to cheap labor and you have a big incentive to move a business overseas. Personally, I think that any company who moves it's operation overseas should receive no breaks from this government.

There are number of things that need to be addressed here.
1) Cheap labors with the same quality in overseas
2) Conducive environment for business in overseas
3) Lower prices of materials
4) Conducive business regulations.
5) Lower business taxes

It's sickening, isn't it. I saw an interview with the CEO of Matel Toys say that it's the American publics fault because he sent his company to China. Blames us for it because we want low prices. I wonder how much he money makes, I'm gonna have to look it up. Thanks for responding.
