My baby is in her big girl bed now!

I got tired of my 16 month old daughter climbing out of her crib every time I put her in it, so I set up her toddler bed in the room the other night. She LOVES it! I was afraid that she would not want to be in it, but so far so good. Did you have a hard time switching your kids to a toddler bed? What age did you make the switch?

I don't have kids, but I seem to remember moving into my own big-girl bed when I was a little over two years old.

I don't remember ever having a toddler bed. I think I just switched to a big bed.

I made the switch around 18 months when my daughter started climbing out of her cot & if the second you put her in there, she'd get all hysterical - that's when i knew it was definitely time. I didn't bother wasting money on a toddler bed, i figured it wasn't worth the money for a bed they'd probably grow out of & then they'd need more money spent on a normal single bed. I just put in a single bed - like a standard sized bed & put a cupboard along side (incase she rolled) & everything has worked out perfectly! I just got her some nice bedding, put up her bright pink mosquito net & she's happy! It took until about the age of 2 (6 months) before she'd stay IN her bed (she'd get up if you left the room so you could find you'll be sitting in there with her until she falls asleep for a while) but everything has worked out perfectly :) She now has her bedtime milk, gets a kiss & then she'll roll over & go straight to sleep - she doesn't even look like climbing out any more - YAY!

That's wonderful to hear! I will try the pink mosquito netting for mine. That sounds so fairy tale princess style. She's going to love that! My little girl started shrieking and trying to climb out of her crib just before she was two years old. And, that's dangerous cause we have hard stone tile floors. I couldn't risk her falling on the floor. So, I took down the crib rails and converted it into the big girl toddler bed. It was one of those two-in-one beds that convert and has a side rail. That's why I bought it, cause I figured she would get so much use out of the bed. She hated it! I think she felt like she was going to fall out of the toddler bed, even though there was a guard rail. So, I put up a twin bed, just like you and she loved that so much. Now she wouldn't have it any other way. She's four now and has been sleeping in her own bed for a very long time. I couldn't be prouder of her! Best of luck on the upcoming baby. And to everyone!

My daughter has been climbing out for about a month or so. I figured she was not staying in the crib anyway, so it seemed silly to keep her in it.

My daughter climbed out of her crib 2 times. I got scared and tired of worrying about it. THe second time she attempted it, she nearly got injured. I took my hubby to the furniture store and got her a twin bed that day. Its the bed she has today more than 3 years later.

I already had the toddler bed from my son. I dealt with her climbing out a bit longer than you did.

My daughter was proud of her new bed. She was 17 months old. We decided that she needed a bed when she tried to climb out of the crib.

I need to get her some big girl bedding still. She is still using her crib stuff. I think that a new bedding set will make her like it even more.

She's only 7 months old and she sleeps with us on our bed. We are still looking for a crib that will fit her coz shes very active and it must secure her.

I let my son sleep with me when he was younger. I had a hard time getting him to sleep in his own bed because of it. I recommend switching before your daughter gets much older.

My son's already 21 month old but he still sleeps beside me and his daddy. I always want to beside him when I go to sleep and I still dont want to put him to another room or even another bed. But i guess, time will come that I have to put him in his first toddler bed. For now, I'm happy sleeping beside my baby!

Just remember, the longer you leave it, the longer it will take for him to be comfortable with sleeping on his own. Also, the longer you have him in with you, the longer it'll be before you can have alone time with your partner. I guess that's why they don't recommend co-sleeping!

My son slept with me for what seemed like forever. He is 8 and he still does not like sleeping alone. I would suggest that you get him a bed soon because otherwise you are never going to get him out of your bed.

I got my little girl into her toddler bed when she was 2. I was very lucky because someone gave me a cute little toddler bed for free and I used her old crib mattress and bedding from her crib. She felt just like a big girl sleeping there next to her sister. It is the perfect size for her too! Did your little girl reject it at all or fall out? Mine never did. She took to it like a fish to water.

She is using the one that I bought for my son when he was switching. He hardly ever used it because I let him sleep with me. Not a good idea.
