My roommate told me about a acquaintance of his that lives in the country. The land owner has had a problem with strangers driving onto his property and stealing gas from his vehicles.
Two men drove onto his property awhile back and proceeded to syphon gas from a van the owner had parked and rarely drove. The owner sat back up on the hill side with a rifle and watched the proceedings. Just about the time that the thieves were about to leave they looked up and spotted the owner. The guys were having trouble getting their vehicle started. He told them that it wasn't any use since they were going to have to drain the gas tank. The gas was tainted with sugar. The men had to walk out to get someone to tow their vehicle away. The land owner contacted the police and reported the vehicle and tag number.
If your vehicle doesn't have a safety cover with a release from the inside of the vehicle then you are an easy target. Apparently, locking gas caps are easy to cut off. How do you protect your high priced gasoline?
