I consider myself a Christian, but, I'm beginning to doubt the existance of God. Things in my life have been very difficult recently, and no matter how much I pray to God to help me and my family, nothing goes right. If God won't or can't help a believer, and a good person, what's the point? I can't believe in a God who seems to want to punish me for no apparent reason.

Wheather you believe in God the creator or not , doent change anything!, Yes he exists and he knows that and so do alot of people, but I guess the saying is true that you will believe whatever you want,
but that doesnt change facts.
Maybe he doeesnt respond because its not what he wants, I dont know what your asking for, and Actually i dont know WHO exactly you are praying to.... BUt lets assume you are praying to the god of abraham isaac and jacob ( The God of Israel) Then, A god reason he doesnt respond could be A- You are asking for Material or selfish things, B- You are sinning in some way and he will not hear you C- is will is contrary to what You are asking for.
Just my thoughts :)

I'm not asking for a big screen TV, I know God isn't Santa Claus.

Well I will start of by saying I am not a Christian and by saying keep faith. God, no matter what you think, is always listening. You just need to keep that hope, even if it seems like He is not there. Whatever you choose to call your Creator, it is the same every time, keep faith and believe in yourself and Him. He will definately come through for you.
Peace and the blessings of God be upon you.
