I just could not fathum the thought of what I was hearing on the news let alone understand how on Gods green earth that a person could just forget about something like that. A 14 month old infant was let in an SUV for 5 hours with all the windows rolled up and the temp in the vehicle reached 115 degree's. The grandfather picked the child up to take to daycare and instead went straight to work at the mall and forgot the infant was in the SUV. He didn't realize the child was there untill he got off work and retured to the vehicle. The infant is now in an intensive care unit. Police are not charging the grandfather untill the see wether the child lives or not so theyknow what charges to press.

I would think that grandfather may have memory problem.
I don't know how to judge this guy. It is very bad, but maybe family know about his bad memory, so they didn't place any charges....
Maybe, maybe....drinking is next on my mind...

i dont think that i could ever forget a child in the car whether it was my child or someone else's because i don't know how anyone could forget that the child was in the car because i would think that they are crying and making noises so you wouldn't/couldn't forget them...but on the other hand if the guy was older and he had the effects of getting older(like some people forget very easy and they can't hear well and things like that)i guess that some people could forget a child being in the car but that would be the only way....and some of the people in my family are older but they don't forget when there are children in the car or something like that...i don't know what happened but i really hope that the child is ok and makes a full recovery...i hope that you try and keep us up to date on what happens in this case!

I think in this case, with the child being that young, probably got lulled to sleep by the car. It happens alot to babies and toddlers.

He must really be kicking himself. I cannot imagine forgetting my grandchild, but I can see how it could happen. I hope the child makes it, and recovers well. There is probably nothing they could do to that man that would be any worse than what he is already doing to himself.

OMG that is SO SAD!!! BUT I have to say that it may have been an age related accident..I mean if the grandfather is elderly, possibly forgetful and DOESNT care for the child regularly I think that shoudl give him a little in his court ya know..NOT that it excuses it by any means but it would make more sense for this to happen to an elderly grandfather over a young mother if thta makes sense

Would not forget about my child. This is probally just a accident! I wonder why no one heard the child? You would think people passing by would have heard the child cry or talking.

He parked in the employee parking lot of the mall where he worked as a Karate instructor so there would have been vertualy no traffic untill shift changes.

These are my thoughts. I have never, nor will I ever leave my child behind. Not like that! Shoot to a point, even leaving them alone for a few minutes can be tragic. Not that I haven't. I am guilty of occasionally forgetting something I need in the house, but if I don't know right where it is, we all have to go back in the house so I can find it.
