When is the last time you filled an ice tray?

Since our family moves around a lot, we stay in all sorts of places. Our current residence doesn't have an ice maker, but it has one ice tray. My kids looked at it like it was an alien. They've never had to use one so I call them modern kids. Do you still have to fill ice trays?

I am a little embarrassed to say I have not filled an ice tray in so long that I can't remember when it was. When we first moved to FL, the condo we rented before we bought our house didn't have an ice maker. So, we bought large bags of ice and stored them in the freezer. It would last a long time, since it's just the two of us. Thankfully, we do have an ice maker that delivers ice at the door of the refrigerator and I am very pleased about that. PearlGrace

Step 1. Take the empty tray to the sink. Step 2. Turn the water on to a slow flowing stream. Step 3. :)

yup.. I do fill them quite frequently as i'm the only one in the family using the ice most of the time.. lol ^_^ ANd it's actually quite fun doing it when i was a kid.. I remember i will always fill it up to the max and walk slowly to the the freezer so that i wun spill any or too much of the water.. lol After which i will wait for hours or so, after they are ready, i will either eat them or drink with with my sodas.. LOl After that, i will repaeat the same process again.. lol

My kids have never filled ice trays and the oldest is 8. He did spill a little water but that's okay. I always wondered why the sink was so far from the fridge.

haha ^_^ yeah, i have always wonder about that too, y can't the sink be nearer to the fridge, so that i need not walk so slow and spill any water on the floor to earn myself an earfull of scoldings.. lol

I actually just used one today. Personally I hate ice in everything, but we had company so made it for them. Would it surprise you if I told you I had a rotary phone too?

Yes, I still fill ice trays all the time, I just filled them up earlier today. We used to buy bags of ice all the time, but its easier and cheaper to use ice trays. I'm not fortunate to have a fride with a ice maker or ice and water in the door...lol. My husband keeps saying he's going to put an ice maker in the fridge but it hasn't happened yet, don't know if it ever will...lol.

I haven't filled an ice cube tray in many years. I think it has to be 12 or more years by now. My fridge has an ice maker which is wonderful! I think my 17 year old remembers what an ice cube tray is though. They are nice to use if you want to make special looking ice cubes though, you know like hearts or stars or something.

I've seen some cool looking ones lately, only because I have to fill ice trays now. I think it would be funny to send a kid to school with an ice tray for show and tell. An automatic A+ because the other kids would think it was from another planet.

Actually I did it today. I prefer to have my ice made from bottled water instead of the water system that runs through the ice maker.

Yes, we do. I still live in an apartment, so ice trays are a necessity. I try to keep enough that I don;t run out and feel like every time I look in there ice is missing. Last time I refilled them was this morning.

I have an old fridge that came with my place. It was brand new when I moved in so I figured why replace it. It does not have an ice maker. I keep a bunch of trays in it this time of year. Even my 12 year old can operate it...lol. We go through a lot of ice. When my fridge does finally kick out on me I will get one dem dere new-fangled ones what make the ice fer ya....lol.

Funny, don't let your 12 year old know that, they may make it happen sooner than later.

Oh yes, I still do because I find it more convenient and I love the different shapes of ice I can draw from it.

I did see some cute ice trays that had fruit shapes and I though they would be fun, but the next place we move to might have an ice maker and I'll probably toss them.

Yep. Our freezer is full of em. My mother is a bartender and makes drinks all the time so we use up the ice pretty quickly

Yeah we don't have an ice maker, but my kids still look at the trays, empty them, and throw them back in the freezer. It's a little cycle here at home that I like to call make mom mad. I start with the same question every time and then realize that I should be asking the dog because I would get better feedback from him as to who threw the tray in empty. But even he doesn't answer me and at least he has an excuse as to why he put the tray in empty, and that is because he doesn't have opposable thumb required for turning on the water and opening the door. So the next step in the cycle is for me to yell for 45 seconds because they walk away shaking their heads, then I fill the trays and in a few days, it starts all over. Can you sense the sarcasm? LOL

I don't have an ice maker, but I still don't fill up the ice cube trays. I only drink milk and water and both of them are kept pretty cold in the refrigerator. So, I don't need ice with them. I think the only time I have ice is when I am making ice cream. There might have been one time that I made ice for something recently, but I can't remember.

Ice cube trays - 2 in the upper left corner that came with the fridge and the rest are on the right, stacked.
Sure do. Still have ice trays and they are constantly in use, specially during the warmer months for iced tea and ice water. In the pic, you will see the kool-aid pops my daughter made and put in the freezer a few hours ago. lol Sadly, that's all the frozen food we have that you see. Can't afford to buy food like I used to.
