I don't like it when people drop in unanounced. It was ok. years ago when not every one had a phone. Now there are phones, e-mail, text messaging and cell phones. So there is no excuse. I am not very socialble myself and very untidy by nature so drop in guests might find a mess, also I shop just for the minimum so I may not have anything to offer except maybe tea.

We have people drop by unannounced a lot. I don't really like it, but others in my family don't really mind. I just like to know if someone is going to come by. That way I can make sure that the house is clean and I'm prepared for them. Also, I'm not super social, so I hate when people show up unannounced and no one else is home and I am stuck 'entertaining' them for a while.

I feel you on that. That is one of the reasons I learned as a child to alwasy keep the house clean because we never know who will come visiting that day. also since my mother had a big family who lived in another part of the country and they always came to stay by here when they travel, she made sure that the hosue was always neat and clean.
Like you I am not a very social person, I like my peace and quiet, so if I find myself aloen with guest, I ask if they want something to eat or drink and try to make small talk praying that whoever they come to see will eb home soon.

Yeah,i still like it though visitors call in all of a sudden,because it is a very good thing chatting with the visitors.
