Would you allow your nanny to discipline your kids?

When I'm not around, I usually give the nanny some responsibilities and that includes disciplining my eldest. She can only instruct and guide my son in doing his homework and cleaning up and in finishing his food. But, some nannies tend to overdo it. They go over their boundaries. Mine did a few days ago. She bad mouth my son simply because he didn't obey her. So, out she go. I can't tolerate that. She felt that because we treated her as one of the family, she has the right to do that to my son. She said she was merely trying to make him clean up his school books, he didn't obey, so she said some foul words. We could allow nannies to discipline our kids but in some ways, they overstep. When I'm around, or my husband, nannies are not suppose to do the disciplining.

The only discipline I would give a nanny would to be able to put a child in time out for 5 minutes.. no more than that.
I do not believe in physical discipline. no need to with my children they did well with time out.

I think it depends. I'd allow it provided that she doesn't abuse my kid to the point of giving him/her bruises and such.
But simple slaps or punishment is okay, as long as my kid knows why he/she is being punished.
But I'd prefer that I'd do the punishing or disciplining myself.
