I am interested in photographing the night sky, mainly the moon, and I was wondering if any of you out there have had experience with photography with a telescope? I have searched online, but am unable to find exact, straightforward information, and would like to hear it from someone who has done it.

I frequently take photographs using a telescope! It is pretty easy to do! The main things you need are a telescope and a DSLR (or SLR) camera. Additionally you need a T-mount adapter for your camera. These are very easy to find at most camera stores and cost around $10-$15. You just need to make sure you get the right mount for your camera (for example, if you have a Canon you need a Canon T-mount adapter, if you have a Nikon you need a Nikon T-mount adapter, etc.) The other thing you need is T-mount adapter for your telescope. This can be a bit more difficult to find as you will need to find one that fits your telescope. A good place to start looking for these online is Adorama.com. Or you can always check your local camera store (which is where I bought mine.) Just go in with the make and model of your telescope! Attach the adapter to your lens and to the telescope, and set your camera on manual (and manual focus as well!). You may need to play around with different shutterspeeds until you get the right exposure! Bracketing is a good idea! Also, because the telescope is so big, pressing the shutter button with your finger often moves your telescope while the shutter is open, so I would highly recommend using a remote shutter for your camera! Good luck! And let me know if you have any questions!

Well it seems like this could be a bit of work, but thanks! This is something I have wanted to do for a looooong time and I've never quite figured out how exactly I should go about it.

Before I got my camera with 12X optical zoom I would use binoculars to get pictures of the moon. It seems pretty hard to use binoculars with a camera that has an optical zoom lens (at least it did for me) but all I would do is stick the lens up to the hole and snap some shots. It's pretty easy.. except the holding still part lol check out these two sites.. maybe they can help you better. http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/1996-12/851377238.As.r.html http://www.umich.edu/~lowbrows/reflections/2001/ckessler.4.html
