ok i was thinking about going somewhere(as i have stated in an earlier discussion)and i just don't know where i want to go yet but i do know that i want to go somewhere and i have already priced the bus tickets and everything like that(because thats what buses are there for and with the gas prices getting as high as they are that is going to save me a lot of money)and i was just wondering if anyone has ever used a bus...my main thing is buying the tickets..is it cheaper to buy them now if i am planning something at hte end of july...or would it be the same price to just try and buy them there? another thing i was wondering is if you have to have a credit card or can you just use a money order and order them or how does all of that work...and what have your experiences been on the grey hound?

I used to travel on the Greyhound bus lots years ago. I always had a pleasant experience on my trips. But I haven't been on one in a long time. I do know that traveling by bus would probably be much cheaper than driving, considering they have many riders, whereas you would be paying for the entire gas consumption. I never bought my tickets until I was ready to go. In fact, I bought the ticket the day I was leaving. I always paid with cash. I don't know if they accept money orders, but they probably will accept a credit card. Just call your local greyhound bus terminal and ask them all those questions. I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you.

It is fine if the destination is within the 8 hour range, after that it gets tiring. I recently rode Amtrak and it was cheaper thanGreyhound and much more comfortable. The same distamce takes a bit longer by train but it has it´s conveniences, like diner, walking, etc.etc. You can reserve your seat at amtrak.com and search for the nearest station to your destination.

The main thing needed is PATIENCE on the GREYHOUND. U MUST PAY BY CREDIT CARD or cash at window, Policies listed on the website answer all your questions except personal ones which the 800 # works. 2 weeks in advance purchase saves u lots!!!!
