it depends on if she makes more or you make more and how much does it cost to live and what lifestyle do you want. these days its takes 2 but sometimes it takes one to stay at home to keep the house going especially if you have kids

I agree with you. I have been a stay at home for 8 yrs and hubby has always brought home the money.
We do fine on his income and he just got a promotion and more money so we are doing OK.
I honestly don't think my hubby could stay home all day like I do and me work, he couldn't handle it LOL.

Wow, that is a good question, especially since everything has changed since the 50's. I think that both should work, but if there are circumstances which prevent one of the two from working than it should be the one who makes the most that should continue working. Unless it is something critical like being in a car crash or an illness, then the other partner has no choice but to work. It really is hard to say.

The norm is the that husband should be the one who earn the living but it is quite common nowadays to see the wife as the breadwinner. I think it is more appropriate for the husband to earn the living cuz if not, they will be looked down on.

When my children were small, my husband worked and I stayed home with the kids.. Now they are all in school in the daytime so I work too. BOTH of us work, we share ALL our money and take care of our household together

well anshul...both are at there places...from my opionion both should earn equally because dis world nt meant for the men!!so wife should not be restricted to the house steps but to the office steps too...but at the extreme point as by the culture husbands should earn

This depends on if she wants to work or not!
If she has a career, or even if she wants to start a NEW career.
The other thing is.... is the Male income is not enough to say, pay the mortgage and she wants to help out, then why not.
Sometimes the problem may arise where she says "This is my money". But if that happens yo have a problem I would say.
We talked about haveing a joint account in the Bank so that both salaries goes in there, but then she said that this way buying presents for each other would not be the same!
I can understand her point of view so we both earn and both have seperate accounts
Simple really!
