Do you myLot more for the money or the discussions?

I have only been a lotter for a few days now. I have read many discussions on several topics. I have noticed quite a few discussions pertaining to the mylot earnings, ranging from how to make more money on mylot to trying to crack the secret code of earnings. On the other end of the spectrum, I have read several topics about how many lotters are so happy that they have good friends that they have met here and they love sharing discussions with each other. So I am curious to see what holds a higher ranking...friends? or money (earnings)? This should be interesting....

After I got my sister's invitation to join mylot, I hardly came in here. But almost a month ago, I came back in and checked it out. I started participating in the discussions and found that are a so many people who have much the same interests that I do. So that makes me feel I'm not the "only one" who has wondered about whether someone else likes the same kind of music or go to movies with a bunch of friends, etc., etc.
The earnings here are just little perks for me as I realize that mylot is not a way to make any kind of "full-time" income. As I have mentioned in a few other discussions, this is like a piggy bank to me. :-)

Thanks for your response. I like the piggy bank analogy! I'll keep stocking it away for a rainy day...but I'll probably just go on mylot on a rainy day so I don't know how well that will work for me LOL :)

I like the discussion aspect although I wish more people would contribute rather than just creating new posts. it gets old sorting through numerous posts about nothing to get to some honest discussions. Everyone needs to rant or joke but sometimes there are valuable topics started and people just don't take them seriously.

Thanks for your response. I agree. I have actually started a few "serious" topics and had zero responses. Yet, I have started light hearted topics and have had several responses. Go figure :)

When I first found mylot I was interested in seeing what kind of money could be made. But that isn't what kept me coming back. There is alot of information here. And people from different places. You can really learn something. I have noticed most people who come for the money soley don't stick around for long. The money doesn't come in quickly enough for those individuals, and sooner rather than later they try and find greener grass.

Thanks for your response. Yeah, I can see people being under the assumption that they would make some solid money here and then leave when they find out that that just isn't going to happen. I realized it the 2nd day, but by then I was already hooked :)

Hi, ctobler, can i say neither? I come here for English learning, English's not my native language. Mylot's a good place for me to meet and talk with friends in English, also money and making friends too. Yeah, learning English and menawhile getting friends and money, that's really cool. I like it very much. I hope you will too.
**Enjoy life~~**

Hello friend! Of course you can say neither! That is the beauty of myLot, you can say what you want! So for you it could be summed up as:
myLot earnings = cents/day
learning another language = priceless
That was a great response! Thanks :)

I enjoy both equally I guess. I like watching the pennies add up. I'm not going to get rich doing this.
I found out a long time ago that sometimes wanting is more fun than having. I'm having fun watching it grow.
When the time comes that I can cash in, having that little bit of money and spending it won't be near as much fun as watching it grow from day to day.
I really enjoy the topics that come up and getting into a stimulating debate on occasion. Not everytime but once and awhile lol

Thanks for your response. I agree, it probably wont be as much fun. And it definitely wont fill the gas tank! But all in all, I like the conversations. I talk to people all day long at my job, but it is never on topics that I want to discuss. Granted, myLot wont come close to my salary, but at least someone is willing to pay me for what I want to talk about! :)

I think about 99% of the replies your going to get is that they joined the site to make money, but after a certain time they really didn't care about money they are more into the topics that people are posting.. I know I am one of those people too.. I do see alot of replies were people are still here for only money, One said in a reply I check my earnings as soon as I log into mylot, Sorta sad in a way but yet I guess it's ok it's why he is here to make money, I am sure though he/she has friends here he replies too and vise versa.. Yeah I come on mylot and see my earnings and think i know i could do better, but I'll be honest i've been very very last the past month and really haven't been trying but yet at the same time i've been roaming the site looking for topics and reading people's replies to the posts.. Yeah i know that won't make me anything but reading what other people write helps you learn more about them.. So that's basically why I am here!

Great! Thanks for your response. I agree completely. Even though you know when you log in you are not going to see a huge earning, you can't help but to look!

Thanks for your response. That is a wonderful and sad reason at the same time. Wonderful because you have made good friends, sad because of the small SSI checks. I fear the inevitable, when I retire we will not have SSI and that scares me. Happy lotting :)

I go here to make money of course! It's a rare occasion when I log in just to start my own discussion. But ever since I got a star, I've been hoping to get a 10 for my rank. Right now, my rank fluctuates between 90 and 89. I've never gotten a 91 yet so it's one of my goals. However, I haven't been starting any good discussion yet. It's easier to respond so while I have been posting more, I haven't really started any good discussions so far.

Thanks for your response. So as I mentioned, I have only been on myLot for a short while. I have to ask....what is with the "star". How do you get ranked? I'm really interested. How do you know what your rank is and when it is fluctuating?

I found this site as a way to suppliment our income and am hoping that I can also share my knowledge to help others where I can. I am a stay at home mom and I homeschool my 2 children. I am a Christian and as a family we are trying to become totally debt-free based on biblical principles. I am hoping to be an encouragement to others who can learn from my mistakes and experience. Great to meet you!

Thanks for your response. Good luck with the debt free thing! I have been checking out the topics myself under "make extra money" to work on bringing in extra income to reduce some of our debts. Please let me know if you find the miracle :)

Thanks for your response! I love the whole myLot concept. I think it is fantastic! We all know we will never get rich off of the concept, but it is still cool to be paid for expressing your opinion.

For me , making friends with people from countries around the world is the main essence of myLot. There is earning coming along, but that is not my priority. It is so nice to meet new friends, exchange ideas, suggestions and advice of mutual benefit. That was the main reason why I joined myLot.

Thanks for your response. I agree, we will never make much here. I think everyone would agree with that. It just goes to show how cool myLotters are knowing that they will not make a lot of money here, but they keeping coming back (such as yourself):)

En,I don't think mylot is the best place to make money, you can see that you can not earn a lot of money here in a short time.Certainly, through the provision of compensation, mylot indeed attract lots of members, but that is not it's fundamental purpose,it is just a platform for people all over the world to exchange their ideas. So I hope everybody can see mylot as a good way to understand the world and make friends not a perfect way to make money.

Well I found MyLot, while I was trying to earn money and I'm still trying to earn some money. It seems it's pretty hard to make money on MyLot but all the discussions in MyLot are quite interesting and I think it's good to discuss things. I've read lots of topics on how to make money on MyLot but most of the times I never get replies for responses I do. Now I'm finding MyLot quite fun. I'm doing it for the money, which comes 1st for me, and then just the discussions I can join in and friends I can make on MyLot. I still haven't found out the secret code of earnings yet. Maybe I might sometime soon.

Thanks for your response! I am finding the same thing through most of the responses that I have received so far. We start out for the money, then once we realize that the earnings do not add up to much, we are already addicted because of the great conversations you can have!
