When is the last time you flew a kite?

Its been years since I've done it, but having kids brings out the kid in you as well. I flew one about a month ago and I enjoyed in more than my kids did. I felt so free, if you haven't done it in a while you should revisit that time when flying a kite was a chance to fly yourself.

My five year old son got a kite for his birthday six months ago, and we'd planned a day when we were goin to go and have a picnic and fly it. However, it was raining on that particular day, and we just seemed to forget about it after that. Might have to get it out for the school holidays next month.

I used kite flying as a science experiment for my kids, now they know how wind works.

I think it was probably last spring when we bought kites for all of the grandchildren and flew them on several windy days. It is so much fun to get them out and do things like we did when we were kids. We've also taught them how to jump rope and how to play jacks!

Jumping rope and playing jacks. Those topics would be good for starting a discussion.

I have not flown a kite in a very long time. You are right I need to do that again. My nephew is coming out in August we may do that if we have a windy day.

When I get the exact dates I will let you know.
By the way we use to call my sister Mother nature in the early 70's. I do not remember way except a boy friend called her that.

I saw the Kite Runner a few days ago and it got me thinking about flying kites and how much fun it was. I'm glad you had fun with your brother flying your pretty butterfly kite.

Me too, the great thing about having kids is getting to share childhoods again.

I guess it was in the month of January earlier this year, when I last flew a kite. I really enjoy flying kites since the time I was a kid. At my hometown I would spend hours standing on the roof flying my kite and watching it reach heights. However, after coming into a job, I don't get enough time, or I must say, I am not present at my hometown during the kite flying season so that makes it difficult for me to enjoy this leisure activity. However, wenever I come across any such occasion, I love doing this activity.

I've never stood on the top of my roof and flew one, you've got me there.

The last time I flew a kite was 1 or 2 months ago. At the end of the school year, I remember. My little brother kept getting tangled in it, but I still think he was pretty adorable running around with the kite.
Of course, I had to fly the kite also. Who could resist "My Little Pony" and "Spiderman" kites?

It's been years... I remember the last time I flew a kite was back when I was in the 1st year of high school. There was a kite flying competition in school and we represented our class. It was fun even though we didn't actually win in that event. When I was younger than that we usually fly kites here in our place. It was a hobby during a windy season. I guess I should try and fly one again sometime. This discussion made me miss it. Hehe. Thank you!

Yeah what a feeling. We bought a kite for our 5 yr old a while back and have spent a few Sunday afternoons in the park flying it. It's fun and we always come home happy and weatherbeaten. Everyone should own at least one kite!

Welcome to myLot. Yea, everybody should own something that flies and makes you smile. Kites are cheaper than planes.

This is so wierd, I have been talking to my children about flying a kite. They didn't get the fun in it. I guess because it doesn't make noises or light up that it is not fun. I remember that I would fly my kite for hours and it was so nice and peaceful.

Nice and peaceful is hard to teach isn't it. Well, try it again and let them know the importance of it.

I haven't flew a kite since childhood. Maybe when the weather gets cooler I might want to see if my 5 year old niece wants to fly one. I bet my 2 year old nephew would enjoy seeing a kite fly.

Oh that was years ago when I was a kid. I was visiting Washington D.C. and was up on the hill around the Washington Monument. I flew a kite with this lady who I was just having a conversation with. She had it really up there. It was so high it was flying over the road.

I haven't flown a kite for ages. I guess I'm put off rather by not being very good at it. I spent a couple of happy hours watching my son enjoying himself with a kite and his Dad on the beach last summer though. His Dad thought he was going to get a quiet relaxing sun bathe. Little did he know that the kite had been packed ....!

I hope you packed some sunscreen, I got a nice burn looking at the sky for an hour while I flew mine.

Funny you ask that question because I haven't flown a kite in years, but you have brought back memories, Oh yes you have.... When i was a child my mom used to help me make kites on a weekend it used to be so much fun. Well tomorrow is a holiday in my country and i think I'll make some kites with my nieces and fly them outside tomorrow thanks for the idea.

The last time I flew kite for my own delight was when I was still a kid but you know what? I was not very successful because before my kite could reach the ideal height the wind blew my kite down and it was destroyed. That drove me to tears because it took me a whole day doing my kite only to be torn apart in a matter of minutes. Hu!Hu!Hu!

more years than i can remember. but there's a man in a wheel chair that flys these beautiful kites. that we loved watching whenever he did. he said he was limited in what he could do then he tried kite flying and found that he not only could do it but really enjoyed it.
