Ok, my first digital camera was just an easy simple Kodak camera - it was like 3.8 megapixels or something like that - back in 2003. Now I know there are many other cameras out there - and they are much more advanced! I am photo happy so a great reliable camera is everything to me, but I also am on a budget so I can't spend too much on it - I'd say around $350 or less - is this a good budget? I'm thinking about Nikon or Olympia (are those the right brand names?)...I've heard good things. Please any advise would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I have canon and I like it. It gives an excellent picture quality and easy to use. I have been using canon for more than 8 years. The current camera is the second canon that I have. Besides canon, I like olympus. It is shockproof and waterproof. You can drop the camera and it is still working and you can take under water pictures with it. The bad thing about olympus, it doesn't use a common memory card, unlike canon that use a common sd card.

I've had several Cannons over the last couple years and have loved them all. They have great picture quality, are easy to use, and are pretty easy to carry around. In your price range there are several models available. I've had ones around $250 and then the $350 range and even the $250 worked great. A lot of my friends also have Cannons and they love it as well for it's easy use and great picture quality.
I can only compare it to an earlier Fuji that I, which took okay landscapes but terrible action. In using my friends Nikon the Cannon was of similar quality but I think the Cannon was a better deal.
