Do you believe..."Your Best Friend is Your Best Enemy?"

I don't believe that my best friend is my best enemy. I have a bestfriend when I was in my primary and secondary years. We still are good friends though they have found another, we still keep in touch with each other. I have known my best friend now for fourteen years. We are still the same. We have new found friends but we still enjoy the same company we had before. We don't see much now but the communication is still there as if we didn't find any other friend to share our life with. My best friend will never be my best enemy because eventhough my best friend and I will have a fight, we will never break the friendship we founded. It is very immature and awful to use our weaknesses just to get even to our best friends mistake or greediness. Jealousy and pride could be reasons to ruin a friendship but in my case, I am very lucky to have a very open-minded best friend. We respect each other so much. We give each other a time and space to grow. We know that wherever we are, we will always be the best of all friends. When I am weak, she is my strength. She sometimes acts as my mother and my sister but she never manipulates, she just scolds me and let me realize my mistakes, stubbornness and selfishness. I can never be like her, so strong. Now, we just exchange emails. We are both busy. Hehehe. Take care

I think that the idea of a best friend is the best enemy is that the best friend is the person that can hurt them the worst, but wouldn't. Know what I mean. Like your best friend knows the best way to hurt you.

Look at it this way, best friend best enemy which is different from best friend worst enemy. The key word is best so when you say best enemy, this means someone who is considered as the best even as an enemy because he/she will not treat you just like a real enemy will treat you by stabbing you behind your back, destroying your reputation or simply doing all harm he/she can do. A best friend best enemy on the other hand is still a friend who is concerned about you and cares for you and so since he/she knows your weaknesses, your failures etc, he/she will know best what to say to you for your own good. He/she will scold you on your weaknesses, your mistakes, your wrongdoings but unlike an enemy, he/she does it out of love or concern and not out of a desire to hurt or destroy you. The bestfriend maybe considered as an enemy in the sense that he/she does not tolerate your mistakes and frailties but will go out of his/her way to correctyou even if in the process your feelings will get hurt.Otherwise, he/she is not a best friend or even a friend if there is malice in her/his actions. Instead he/she is an enemy

It's simply because your bestfriend knows your strengths, weaknesses and everything about you, and when worse comes to worst, they can turn against you. (^^,)

I think its because if your friend became your enemy, they would be able to hurt you that much more than someone who doesn't know you as well. Not only would you be upset that someone you cared about has turned on you but also because they probably know lots about you. SO they would be able to take your darkest secrets and use them against you and hurt you even more. Quiet depressing really if you think about it, but true someone who knows lots about you would be able to use that knowledge to hurt you more than anyone you don't really know that well.

that happened to me one time, in mid 90's. that girl is not that sweet but we used to be together almost all the time. we work in the same office but not not living in the same house. we made love and we dream together. but i almost forgot what makes us apart. and we became enemies. until now, we have no communication, although i guess, she knows where to contact me...

I do not know because my best friend could never be my enemie. We have been friends for 22 years now and she has never hurt or betrayed me. Maybe if they could also be your best enemy then they were never your best friend in the first place.
