When i was still young i remember people saying that we should be sleeping at least 8 hours each day to have a healthy body. But in today's lifestyle, is it still possible to get that long a sleep?
It seems to me that the world is becoming fast paced each day and that people tend to cut their sleeping time shorter to be able to deal with it.
In my case, i'm an architect and it feels like work in the office never stop coming. There's always a deadline to finish; i always have to work overtime; i usually go home late and come to work early the next day; and i frequently get only 4 to 6 hours of sleep everyday because of this. I know its not healthy but work is important, and i can't do anything about it.
Does anyone here have the same problem that i have or is it just me? How many hours do you normally sleep each day?

Yes, the world is becoming fast paced, and we usually have to work hard to make our lives better and better. If you are too difficult to make a choices between more sleeping and more working, you should take some time to think about which one is more important to you and what's your goal?
Now you're sacrificing your health for the succeed in working, is it really worth? If you exactly can't do anything about it, at least you should squeeze some time to release your body and mind when you finished a period of busy work. Everyone should learn to find a good balance between work and rest.Good luck!

Normally I will sleep 8 hours. But sometimes this is not enough. I'm still feel sleepy when I go to work.
Sometimes even sleep less, it's because for some reasons, I can't fall asleep. So I may sleep about 3-4 hours only.
My not enough sleep can be seen from my eyes.
During weekend, sometimes I will think to sleep until a bit late, but don't know why, I will automatically wake up.
I was thinking want to take a day leave to sleep at home, but don't want to waste my leave.
My advice is, try to get your time to sleep more. It's important.

Yes you are right. In today's fast paced life people hardly get enough time to sleep.I think one must have atleast 8 hours of sleep to be ready for the next day.I have seen that in my case if i don't get adequate sleep I get headache and am not able to concentrate.A good sleep is one which makes you feel fresh, positive and a stress buster.

I usually need to sleep about 8 hours a night in order to feel well rested. But during busy periods, I've gone on about 6 hours a night for stretches.

About 9 hours, but when I'm lack of sleep for a past few days 12 hours. But usual pattern of sleep is 8 hours. I have problem in sleeping when I am stress and I am thinking a lot of things the day after. I want make things possible and finish my job or goal for the day. Maybe its kind of anxiety or what. Sometimes I just have 4 hours sleep and I felt so weak during the day, I can't even think and work.

My usual sleeping hours is between 4-8 hours. But for occasions when I have so many orders to deliver I usually don't get any sleep and would just catch on it after deliverables has been accomplished. I have a home based cookie and pastry business and I personally bake, pack and deliver my goods.

An Architect huh? Wow, that's good. Well when I'm in school, I get about five to six hours of sleep each night. I don't know how people can handle school with only sleeping about four to five hours each night. But yeah, it all depends on what the person does the entire day to determine how much sleep you need. I mean, if one sits and does not do anything the entire day then I think they don't require to get as much as a person like yourself, that works the entire day.

I am fortunate enough to most nights get a good full 8 hours. However, lately I have not been getting tired at my usual bedtime (around 11) but yet finding myself stumbling to bed around 2am. I then am waking up later and later. Yesterday it was 11am , day before 10 am etc.
I know that sometimes I don't get near enough sleep and wake up cranky - I just take those 8 hour nights for what they are worth and cherish each one.

I sleep 4-5 hrs a day. I sometimes think that time is too valuble to waste on sleep. I think its fine to sleep to get short sleep as long as you get a good quality of sleep. 4-5 hrs of good, relaxing, continuous sleep is enough for me.

I am bad about sleep because I tend to get too much. I usually sleep about 9 to 10 hours every day. I can't even help it. That is just when I wake up. When I start working again, I'm sure I will be getting 6 to 7 hours a sleep a night. I try to get enough sleep when I work because I get VERY cranky when I haven't had enough sleep.

From Monday to Saturday since I have a work, I sleep for about 6 hours a day... But when it is Sunday, I sleep for about more that 10 hours... I love sleeping.. Even though I sleep very long, Still I feel sleepy.. Do you think it is a kind of illness?? Or I am just too lazy to woke up???
