Are you afraid to touch raw meat?

I don't really like to touch raw meat, but if I have too I do. I do not like the feel of it and I do not like that it makes my hands all sticky. I also worry about cleaning up after it properly because of the germs on it.
I have trouble walking past a butchers though because if I get a whiff of the raw meat it turns my stomach!

That is certainly true Geminirose! Although the smell doesn't affect me as much. I think I'm going to give up meat all together. My fiance' is getting irritable because most of the meals no longer consist of meat.

It could be, celia4evr, that your reaction is a result of all the recent publicity regarding the negative side of the meat industry. We certainly hear a lot of bad things about how meat is handled and processed these days. As far as becoming a vegetarian goes, that requires a lot of monitoring to make sure that you get all of the necessary vitamins and proteins that your body would miss out on should you decide to go that route.

I forgot to say that having grown up on a small farm I was exposed to every phase of butchering and am not in the least turned off by it. While I don't believe I could do it myself I have no problem handling raw meat. Proper washing of the hands and of the meat will safeguard against most bacteria.

I developed this psychological issue overtime. I've never really been a huge meat fan anyway. But now it's just out of control. Now I can cook it from time to time (and i'm good at it!) I just might not eat it.

I was a vegetarian for awhile.
Not a vegan, but a vegetarian.
The main difference between the two
is that a vegetarian enjoys milk and
eggs and cheese.
Where as most vegans do not.
Except for lacto-ovo vegans
which eat eggs.
I don't like handling raw food either,
but more for sanitary reasons. It's made
me sick before. Now I'm super clean on
everything!

Thanks alot Beautyqueen26! I don't know if I could do the vegan thing at all. That sounds a little tooo strict.

I am like that, too. I still live at home, though, so my mom cooks the meat. Just the thought of touching raw meat freaks me out. I hate the smell of it, too. Yuck.
I don't think I'm necessarily 'afraid' to touch raw meat, it just grosses me out.

Oh what really gets me is when it's cooked and it resembles the animal part distinctly. I would never touch a chicken leg again.

I just don't like the way it looks or feels and how you have to mush the burger meat . I hate how it will stay on your hands and never seems to rinse off . I hate cooking with red meat , but I like it very much .
