How do you prepare for a scrapbook convention or retreat?

I will be going on a 3 day scrapbooking retreat and to a major scrapbook convention in a couple of months. I am wondering what is the best way to get organized and prepare for that much scrapbooking time. I have been before and just get overwhelmed and don't feel like I use my time efficiently. Any advice for veteran scrapbookers?

Well, you've probably already gone one your retreat, but I thought I'd share anyway. What I usually do is pick out a set of photos, lets say from a trip, and bring everything for those photos. That way usually everything gets coordinated and it's easier to work on a group with similar photos/paper/embelishments. That way don't have to bring every piece of paper, the entire set of pens, all your stamps/etc. if you don't need them. I always have my basic tools with me as well. I will also bring snacks or hard candy for pick me ups in between meal time. There is so much going on at conventions that sometimes it's nice to take a break and walk around to see what others are doing. It'll give you some much needed inspiration.

wow are you going to the summer CHA? so lucky!
i know my local scrapbook shop owners are going to fly some 15 hours all the way to attend that!
I have not been to a scrapbooking retreat - that sounds intense! i have been to 8 hour crop sessions though and loved every minute of it.
I would suggest that you organise your tools so that you can lay them out efficiently on your desk and have everything within reach so that you can scrap quickly. also go with some layout sketches in mind, and some journalling done when you are commuting or something so you don't have to spend many precious minutes or even hours thinking of what meaningful journalling to pen down!
