Apparently, a real life unicorn has been discovered on an Italian preserve.
A one year old deer, whose twin is perfectly "normal", having two horns, has but one horn in the center of his head. Creatively enough, he is named "unicorn".
Could something like this, a genetic anomaly seen on a horse like creature, spured the myths and legends of the Unicorn in ancient times? What do you think? Are you reluctant to believe this animal is alive and well in Italy, genuinely possessing one horn spiraling out of the center of it's head? Are you taking the stance that this animal proves the myths true? Or, perhaps, are you thinking along the lines that this animal has a genetic defect that may have inspired bards of the past to jot down elaborate stories based on a rare genetic condition?

I say just 'cause it's a genetic anomaly and may have inspired many stores...who says that's it DOESN'T have mystical powers of healing and such? Maybe they do.
This would certainly explain why in the stories there's usually harder ever more than two at the most. It was always chocked up to them being elusive or dying out...but maybe it's just that there's only some every once and awhile.
Cryptozoology is always much more open minded, I say.
