The Yankees held off the Padres by a score of 8 to 5 tonight in the bronx. Darrell Rasner won his fourth game of the year pitching 5 innings and giving up 2 runs. Mariano Rivera came in to shut the door on his 19th save after Edwar Ramirez and Kyle Farnsworth game up 3 runs in 3 innings. Jonny Damon, Alex Rodriguez and Wilson Betimit all had three hits for the Yankees with A Rod adding his 14th homer of the year. Bobby Abreu had two stolen bases. Defending Cy Young winner Jake Peavy took the loss for San Diego.
