has anyone else heard the rumors that the execs of top chef are making a top chef junior for kids? i believe that its supposed to be for kids ages 13-16. if it's true, it ought to be really exciting to see the world of food through the eyes of children.

Sorry I am late to reply to your post. The answer is yes there will be a Top Chef Junior. There were 8 episodes ordered by Bravo. I don't know when the episodes will air.

This is the first I've heard of this. If it's true, it could be pretty interesting. There are musical prodigies, so I'm sure there are culinary prodigies out there as well. I'd love to see what these kids could make.

No, I have not heard of this, but I am hopeful that you are right. I will be watching the show if it comes on. I think it will be good for people, especially boys -- who feel often alone when they admit they like to cook, which is considered a girls' profession or domain. Frequently, boy chefs are accused of being gay, which is ridiculous: we all need to eat, and at least they will know how to sustain themselves instead of waiting for their mom to do it.

Yes, I heard something about that. I don't know how they would do the judging. It's not like you can bring kids in there and skewer them for underperforming, which the people behind the show already know. Kids at that age are so sensitive, it would be hard for me to believe they could have any kind of judges table, even a mildly critical one that would work. Perhaps they could just simply eliminate the loser of the week without telling them anything harsh about their food.

i don't see that working. people would most likely tune in to watch the drama between the kids and see the tension in the kitchen. though teenagers are extremely sensitive at this age, i don't think that it would be possible for them to grow without good and bad critcism.

I heard about that. That would a neat show. I wonder what types of food they would make. It would be nice to have children with different backgrounds on the show making food most people have never heard of. That way we would be seeing all kinds of recipes from different countries. I love international foods.
