i'm currently an interior decorator working as a kitchen designer with home depot. i worked for an independent, custom drapery place for a while, and that kinda fell through. i moved to home depot for the benefits and job security, and i'm slowly remembering why i hate retail so much. even though i have a "professional" title here, i still have to do the meaningless retail things. i understand that its all a part of customer service, but i think that if i'm being held responsible for a certain amount of sales, that i should be able to do what my job title entails.
but, i digress. not only have i re-ignited my hatred for retail, i'm extremely bored with design as a whole. i've been thinking about getting into some online classes for pharmacy technician. i'd be able to help people, and get out of retail, steady hours, decent benefits. my only concern is the pay. i know that starting out in a new field, i would start back at the bottom. anyone out there know what this position starts at roughly? can you think of any other fields that would be good to get into?

You made some good points here. There is nothing called definite job profile. Even if your are flowered with inflated job titles the work variation is very less. Especially, here in India you would never get a satisfactory job which caters to its job description. You might have to do anything and everything. I do not find it any harm to bear a lunch order for my boss but then my job quality and productivity degrades to a great extent. And , shockingly, the expertise goes ashtray in most cases.
I work in a hospital and opening for technicians here are immense. There are only a few good ones who are in demand always. I wish you luck in your endeavor to switch over. Having said this, however, from my personal experience, grass is really greener on the other side.
Good luck!
