students who graduated from good universities do not necessarily land on jobs easily. i was an HR associate for quite a while and there were factors that separates student who came from good universities as compared to their counterpart---salary range and ego. the latter usually asks for a high salary and a supervisory/managerial post. in addition, they're too picky. and sometimes, these characteristics will make the employer look the other way and hire those who graduated from a less than famous university

Well most employers look for honest individuals who can do the job professionally. They may or may not be from a good university.
Of course students from good universities are paid higher because of the implicit higher expectations. But if that person takes it for granted then it's his biggest mistake in this competitive world.
Initially a good university branding definitely attracts significant attention of the employers as for instance, reputed universities get more reputed companies during placement season & thus have a much better placement record.
But after first time placements university & your scores matter a lot less than initially because one's job experience & job profile overshadow it.
