my daughter is turning one in august and my husband and i don't really know what to do for her birthday. most of the people that we are inviting are family members. there will be a couple of children, but a little older than her. i know that she won't remember her first birthday except for what we show her in pictures, but i don't want it to be just any other day either. i mean, the celebration of her birth is also a celebration of when my family became a family and not just a couple.
we've been looking into some of the local parks so that there will be something for the children to do. but, in houston, it will be ridiculously hot. and the one park that we really have our hearts set on, is booked with parties and baseball games that day.
do you have any suggestions on party ideas for a one year old? any ideas are welcome!

My son is turning two also on august and im already planning what to do for his birthday party. I was thinking to do it at home. We'll cook the food and arrange everthing that's needed. Im also planning to have a Barney,BJ and and Baby Bop mascots because my son loves them. Im having the invitation, lootbox, tarpaulin and pinata pinata ordered and customized. Im really excited.
You can browse the net and you'll surely find lots of great ideas!
Advance happy birthday to you daughter!

My daughter's first birthday we celebrated at my parent's place - we had balloons, a big banner, streamers & things like that.
It was a family only event, she got all her pressies & had a ball playing with all her new toys & all her family members.
My Mum made a cake in Pooh design & she had all sorts of fun foods - little cocktail frankfurts, fairy bread, party pies & pasties - stuff like that.
I think the day went really well, she seemed to be having a great time & we got heaps of excellent photos.
You're right, they wont remember their first birthdays - probably not the 2nd or 3rd either so as long as they have a good time, that's all that matters i think. No need to go too over the top or spend BIG BUCKS since they wont know anyway but as long as it's enjoyable for them on the day, then i think it's a successful party & you should be happy with that!
