What do you do with your kids' shoes when they grow out of them?

I know this is a bit similar to a discussion I started lately about what to do with old clothes, but I can't bring myself to give my daughters' old shoes away. They're just too cute! And they remind me of the various stages of walking she was at when she was wearing them.
They don't take up much space in our shoe cupboard so far as they're so little, but if I keep every pair then they're soon going to start taking over!!
I know this is a bit of a silly and sentimental post, but I'd like to know:
What do you do with your kids old shoes?
Does it get easier to part with them as your children get older?!! :)

I only keep the first pair, after that it gets dirty from all the walking and there is no point for me to keep them anymore.
Her first pair was usually the ones she wore when she did now know how to walk yet. It was the preparation for later.

Keep their shoes? Are you kidding, I have a plastic bin, each one for my four kids that have little outfits and shoes in them that i can't get rid of. My husband always smiles and says keep them as long as you want...I Love Him!!! I don;t know why I can't get rid of them, I can't even imagine another baby wearing them. I guess it is my way of keeping them a baby in my heart.

That's really sweet! It's good your husband's so understanding, maybe he feels the same way!
Interesting to know you feel this way after four children, there I was thinking maybe it would get easier to throw their things away if I had more kids
Thanks for your answer.

a good 98% of my kids outgrown stuff either gets handed off to someone we know, sold at yard sales but most often sent to the Salvation Army store..there are a couple of key things I've kept over the yrs but the numbers are very small ya know..

That's good. I suppose when she's a bit older and clothes are less 'cute' I'll find it easier to give things away?
I'll probably end up keeping a few things too, but just don't want to keep everything!

I take pictures of things that are sentimental to me , and then I give most of the too little things to other family members or to the goodwill. Lately I have been give to the salvation army because they will give your things to a needy family and they will not have to pay for it.

It's a nice idea to take pictures of things before you give them away. Especially in this digital age where it's so much easier to keep photos.
It's good that the salvation army give things to needy families. Sounds like a good idea :)

Normally my eldests shoes I keep in the wardrobe until the youngest grows into them as their feet grow so quickly they are hardly worn. Once my youngest has outgrown them though if they are in a fit state I tend to give them to charity shops

That's a good idea, I could keep them in case I have any more kids. To be honest I hadn't thought of doing that (the keeping the shoes part, not the more kids part!!) I have kept most of her clothes in storage just in case, but I don't know why I didn't think about shoes.
I suppose we'll have to see whether we have a girl or not though, as nearly all of them are pink. (Not that boys can't wear pink, but people tend to assume they are girls if they do!!)
I feel a bit stupid now not having thought about that
