to live now a days is very difficult. it seems that we can't be happy without money now. it's like we are always not contented with our lives. if we get the things we are dreaming of, we still want the bigger or better one. but for me, all i want is just a simple and happy life. i dreamed of a successful career and happy family. i want to have my own house and and a car (even if it's 2nd hand). i also want to help my parents and other relatives. how about you? are you already contented with your life?

You are right buddy. Money makes everything now a days. But still we can enjoy life have less money. Mine is a very very middle class family. We lived very very happily with my dad's monthly salary from which we harldly get Rs.500 for savings. But we were happy. My husband's family is very very rich and my father in law is facing problem now to share his properties among his children. He has got sleepless nights now a days. That is life. Even if you have money, nobody is sure that you will have happiness in life

For me it's not about what I have or don't have. I would like to NOT have to work. I want to be able to choose my work based purely on whether or not it's what I enjoy. Right now I have to work purely to live. I don't think I will ever be completely happy until I am free to do what I want to do.

I totally agree with you banadux. I feel the same way. I been dreaming of a day where I have more time to stare the sunrise every morning or sunset... its not about what I have and will have, its about enjoying the moment and spending my time with things I enjoy doing instead of dragging myself to earn money to survive!

I am not a rich person, I was not borne with money. I do not have a silver plate with everything served. I have worked hard to have what I get, and to tell You the truth, I am happy with my life. I have a job I adore to do, I live in the country in a small house I rent. I do not have a driver license, I use the local communications such as the bus.
I have two wonderful kids in their teens, I am divorced, I have roof over my head, I have food on the table, I have clothes on my body and I can save for my elder day´s.
So would I be more happy if I was a millionaire? NO I WOULD NOT.

i am happy with my personal life. i have a loving husband and a beautiful daughter that i love with all of my heart. my professional life needs some improvements, because i completely hate my job. i don't think that money can make anyone happy, but it can alleviate stress if it is well managed. though i could stand to have more money in savings and retirement, my bills are all paid, i have a roof over my head, i have groceries in my house, and clothes on my back. what else does one really need?

I admit that I want to have more on what i have right now. Eventhough they always told me that I have everything to be happy.
But for me, life is not all about money, success, fame and by family name.... its about what you're feelings deep in your heart.
Happiness, peace of mind and contenment are more important to me, because money can't buy it. It's priceless......

Speaking for myself, i am much happier when I have some money. It doesnt have to be alot just enough to let me buy some of the things that I want.

It definately can affect our happiness..however the only good advice I can give is strive for those things above - seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and all these things shall be added unto you. God is our ultimate provider and we need to just think about that. I know naturally we want all the finer things in life, but "what do it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?"....just spiritual food for thought.

Money affects our quality of life. Our quality of life affects our happiness. Therefore, it is only logical that money does affect our happiness. That said, it doesn't take that much money to lead a good quality life. I think as long as you have enough money for decent shelter, transportation, food and other necessities, you're pretty much set. However, I think you also need to have family, friends, love and a positive perspective to truly achieve great quality of life, and subsequently, happiness.
Also, for people who work to make their money. I think if you work too much to make even more money, that could decrease your happiness because then you are sacrificing your time with your family, friends and yourself just to make a few more dollars. Unless you need those dollars and they're not just extra dollars to spend on material things, then it's not worth it to work yourself into the grindstone. You need to lead a balanced life to achieve happiness.

Personally for me, most material things that I wanted or dreamed of I have achieved. At this point in my life I really just want financial freedom. Its weird but I spent most of my young life basically trying to keep up with the Jones' if you will. Only to finally realize that a house is a house only bigger, with bigger bills and after the first one its just another notch on your belt. I have worked really hard for the last couple of years for goals that were not necessarily tangible. One was that I wanted to create income that would allow me to leave corporate America and the 2nd was for financial freedom. At this point I only have a mortgage left. I am diligently working to have my 30 yr mortgage paid off in 10 and I am well on my way.

For me I honestly dont like money I think it makes or brakes people. Money does affect how happy people are and its sad. Like im 17 and i currently still live with my mom and she works like non stop everday. She has her regular job then when she comes home from that she gets on the computer to do her other job and its just to make it thru a month and i feel bad. And she regualr isnt in a good mood and i know why its cuz the cost of everything is going up and its hard to support a family with only one person.

somehow money do affect our happiness but money is not happiness. we do sometimes feel great if we have money because we are able to buy our wants. we can't blame others who desire to have more money because it's a fact that in this world we have to pay in order to live. we need to buy food, pay water bills, buy clothing, and the like. it's difficult to be in poverty nowadays. it's good if we have just enough money for us to live and a little extra for our wants. lucky us if we have more than the average. but we must always remember that material things are only temporary, and that money will be spent and be loss. if we want to be truly happy, we must learn to love ourselves, and appreciate every little thing that we have. a simple and peaceful life is more than enough reason to be happy. sometimes we just do not realize how much blessed we are.

i am so glad to hear these things from you. we had very same dreams. unless with one more thing, i wanna have my own business, a company on my own hard work. but now it seems to be just a dream to me, i had been working as hard as i can for almost 2 years and yet i only earned debts. thats why im looking for another way to earn. do you know how? i don't really understand why does money means so much in this world. to think they are just papers and coins made also by people. i wish smile and love can also buy food. can also make dreams a reality.

Hi all! Happiness, true happiness, should not depend on money or material things. While the fact that I don't have enough money right now to make some headway on my debts, go out as often as I'd like, or have my own apartment is stressful, I'll get through it and find employment. In the meantime, I live my life with a positive outlook and look forward to the day I have a family, lots of pets, a successful social work career, and a few albums and literary works to my name.
Namaste,
Becky

I think money does affect our happiness, and that's really unfortunate. I'm pretty content with my own life, my friends are awesome, I'm in college and I love studying what I'm studying and overall, I'm having a great time. However, there's always a little flag in the abck of my head saying "you need to make money!" While I'm in college, my parents and scholarships are taking care of me but when I'm done, I know money will definitely affect me.
