Yes it can it will keep making your computer turn itself off and can damage files. I suggest you download AVG here:

Make sure you pick the free one unless you want to pay for the full version, the free one works for me just fine though.

AVG is supposed to be the best free one, there were rumours it wouldn't be free anymore but I think they are just hiding it a bit so people will buy the full version. It removes spyware too so is worth having, just remember to keep it updated.

Worms actually get pretty dangerous. Personally I think they can harm you more than viruses but... whatever. Just read what the other people say, if AVG doesn't delete the worm try Avast, if that doesn't work... guess your going to have to buy a very trustworthy antivirus/spyware.

Yup! sure a virus effects your system, so always take care to install anti-virus, if working on important issues!
