Favorite top chef (and least favorite) from all seasons

Out of the four seasons, who is your favorite top chef? My personal favorite out of all of the four is Harold, from Season 1. I liked his cooking and really liked how he carried himself. I thought he seemed like a nice guy and was well deserving of the win. He was also quite the stud in season 1. My least favorite top chef has got to be Ilan from Season 2. He was such a bully! It's quite a shame really, because I was actually rooting for him at the beginning of that season but then when he ganged up with the others and picked on Marcel, it really showed his immaturity. Not to say Marcel wasn't an idiot, but he still didn't deserve to be held down physically.
If you can't decide amongst the top chefs, do you have a favorite out of all the chefs, regardless of winners of losers, out of all four season? After Harold, I really liked Richard (from Season 4) and Casey (from Season 3). I know Sam was a fan favorite and although he wasn't my favorite, I still think he should've won Season 2 instead of Ilan.

i must say of the winners that hung of season 3 was my least favorite. i found him to be extremely cocky. and if you paid attention, he made pretty much the same dish from episode to episode. what was stranger to me is that he got praised for his foams which is exactly what the judges were tired of seeing from his friend, marcel from season 2.
my favorite winner would have to be stephanie. not because she was a woman, but just because she seems more relatable that the other winners. and she has a wide variety of cooking styles to draw from.
my favorite chefs from the show are dale (season 4), dale (season 3), sam (season 2), richard (season 4), elia (season 2) and cj (season 3).

The foams! I never realized how foam can play such a big factor in cooking. Some of it doesn't even sound appealing - lobster foam? Hrmmm. I agree - Hung was way too cocky and he souveed (sp?) his meats way too much. I do think he was talented though, but I really thought Casey was going to win that season.

My favorite chef is still Harold. I don't believe anyone has reached his calibre of cooking. He was professional all the way around. I also liked Sam from season two and felt he should have won instead of Ilan. Even though I felt Marcel was a jerk, he did have a point regarding Ilan's limited scope of cooking. When I saw them in the season 1 vs season 2 episode, my opinion of Ilan went downhill. My opinion of Marcel didn't change. His behavior proved he was still a jerk and unporfessional. I can't even remember anyone (except Casey) from season 3. I felt the cooking in that season was unremarkable. I'm glad Stephanie won Season 4 and also the fan favorite. She was deserving of it. She was never arrogant and always gracious.

It wasn't until near the finale of the second season that I realized how much saffron Ilan really did use. And I was disappointed at his lack of creativity. I forgot who or when it was mentioned that most of Ilan's recipes were "borrowed" from the restaurant he cooked at. Isn't that a little bit like cheating? At least Marcel tried to experiment with different techniques and took chances with new recipes. The finale with Ilan and Marcel was a joke. I would've preferred to have seen Marcel vs. Sam and Sam winning. And again, Harold. Wow. He was just. Wow. :)

I agree with your choice of Harold, as a really great man, who showed class and really can cook well. He is one of the best reasons season 1 is my favorite. A chef should be a great cook that other people want to work with at any time.
My least favorite winner is Ilan for the reason you stated picking on Marcel. I really didn't understand this behavior, as they are great friends off the show. My understanding is that it was done for ratings, but clearly should have not happened.
I thought Richard would win this season. He really showed a lot of unusual dishes and I'm glad he just opened his second restaurant. It does help to get on a television show, as people will try finding where its located and come in to eat at least once.

I thought Richard would win too. In fact, I was really hoping he'd win because I had a bet going on with my partner. We each chose a person from the very first show and said whoever wins will take the other one out for dinner. He chose Stephanie and I chose Richard. What were the odds! Now it looks like I'm gonna be footing a dinner bill.
