Pepsi

One of the hardest things I have had to do since learning that I am diabetic is giving up my beloved Pepsi. My consumption of Pepsi was not in huge amounts but I did feel the need to have at least a glass of it every day. Sure, I have had to give up other things that I really like, but the Pepsi is by far the hardest. Everyone who knows me knows how much I love Pepsi. They even tease me about it. I feel as though I am slowly but surely losing all of the little pleasures from my life. Have you ever had to give up something you really loved or enjoyed due to a medical problem?

So sorry to hear that you have to give up Pepsi. I don't know if I could cope if I were to decide to do that. One thing I have had to give up, well not really give up, but to cut seriously down on is fried foods. My cholesterol is a bit high so I had to cut back on that.

You should avoid fried foods as much as possible anyway, jer, because they can wreak havoc on your gallbladder(as I discovered some years ago). If you learn to be a creative cook there are some excellent ways to create great dishes without frying.

My wife is very good about cooking foods other than frying. We eat mostly baked foods, though it was not easy for me, having grown up in the south where fried food is a way of life. We do still occasionally have fried food, but it is very seldom.
Thanks for the B R

I would not share my own experience, instead i would share about my friend. Since a little kid, she really loved to a have honey. It was very delicious and she was so fond of it that she used and mixed it with her meals and drinks. Unfortunately, she developed an allergy on to that. It was really hard for her, I even tease her sometimes just like what your friends do to you. hehe

It's very tough whenever you have to give up something that you love to eat or drink, jmcabular, but we all have to look at the big picture and the health benefits to be gained.

What about diet Pepsi? I love that but I know it's not for everyone.

I absolutely hate the taste of diet sodas, hockeygal, and I also believe they are dangerous to your health.

I mostly drink diet soda, but I do have to drink a regular soda ever now and then. I just get like a craving for it. I have never had to give up anything that I really love because of a medical problem. It must be rough on you. Shame on your friends for teasing you about it. I am sure that makes it even harder.

Believe me, lilybug, there seems to be a growing list of things I have to adapt to. I never dreamed this would be so hard. On the bright side, I am losing weight nicely.

That sounds rough. I went from regular pepsi to diet in a two week period. The taste did take some getting used to. But now I enjoy it. And regular pepsi is now too sweet. I did it for weight loss purposes.

I have considered diet Pepsi myself as much as I hate the taste of diet drinks, ersmommy, but there are a lot of problems associated with diet drinks as well, so I have decided not to go with that.
