Utilities

Ok I have been looking at my utility bills and they are way too high. I live in a small apartment with no washer or dryer we are all cautious with the electricity we use and everything else and yet my electric bill for the month is $900 and I have a gas bill for $100 and a big water bill. What concerns me is that my landlord runs a business below me and I have heard from a few people that he takes advantage of his tenants. I am wondering if I am somehow paying for his utilities as well. How do I find out?

That does not sound right. I think you are getting taken advantage of, but I am not sure how you can find out for sure. Maybe talk to the utility company yourself.

I don't know where you live and how that affects rates, but I have a family of 4 living in a 2100 sq ft house in PA and our electric bill is only $140 this month. I don't think it ever gets over $200. Either your utilites are much higher where you live or someone is tapping into your service OR you are using much more than you think. Our water runs around $60 a month, but is usually around $45 (I think we have a slow leak somewhere). You need to figure this one out FAST!

You are getteting taken no doubt about it. You need to do a bit of detective work and call your local electric company ahd your water department. Explain you are a tenant and not responsible for your landlords bills, You will probaly need to find a new place to live. This guy is talking advantage big time.

That sounds like a very bad situaution, and I do not know why your bills would be so high, and it sounds like you might be paying for his utilities as well,as to how to find out,I am not sure, unless you call the electric company and ask them.
