As a Musician myself, I know how hard it is to spend thousands of dollars for studio costs. Plus mixing, editing copying, printing Production and Producing Costs. Even at the lowest This can generally run around 3000 dollars At the very least. It really doesn't matter if your a Christian band or Within just the normal Music Industry. In Fact it's exactly the same. My question is. Do you think Christian music should be free even though it cost so much to make? Or do you think Christian Artist should receive some earnings as well so they can produce more music? I would love to hear any feed back on this.

I am not sure where people get the idea of it being free is. That's what I'm trying to find out. lol So many people think for some reason if it's Christian music it should be free. Does anyone know?

Well Dan, some people don't feel like they should pay their pastor either. These people are Christian in name only and are out for a free ride anywhere they can get it.

Even so, Why and what makes them think any church or ministry, can make it without paying the bills?

I think Christian music should be charged for along with any other music. I know are needs are always met somehow but Christian businesses still make a profit, the last Bible I bought cost over £30 ($60) so your production cost do have to be taken into consideration. Of course demo tapes should be sent out free but after that a reasonable charge is not too much to ask at all. God bless. Ellie :D

Thank you Ellie, It is hard work to make and create the music no matter what form it is. As far as demo's, if bands or musicians do decide to make demo's it's entirely up to them. Free demo's are usually used for promotion and giving to radio stations so yes those would be free, and you would have to eat the costs of making them. Thanks again. Dan

I so agree. All music should be charged, not just Christianity. It's like they are saying that only Christian music is the right music, so lets make it free! I disagree with that. I think every genre is just as much valid as any other, so it should be treated the same.

Of course I believe that Christian artists should earn from their music, to further the kingdom of God but also, they need to provide for themselves and their families as anyone does. Plus of course the costs of producing music and all the years of practising and concerts where they probably didn't earn much! God bless them, we need more Christian music!

Thanks chileman. I totally agree here. Most of us who are out there work hard to provide for the family. Let alone have to work a full time job. Extra time and a lot of money is spent to create and publish even more music. It's great to know so many are responding to this. I guess I should start making more. lol God bless you Chilleman. Dan

Paul said "the workman is worthy of his hire". That doesn't just apply to ministers. Christian music is a ministry and the artist should reap the benefits just as any other artist does.

That's what I try to tell others also. I'm not sure where so many think it should be free. lol I find some many Christian artists struggling to keep their Ministries going because of this. It makes it hard to continue with no cash to help out.
