I haven't read the bible for a long time now. But when I was 12-13 years old I read the whole New Testament, cover to cover. Our teacher encouraged us to read it. The 4 gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were the ones I read the most. I forgot what version it was though. Been a long time.

Was this some kind of a church teacher? I was the oposite I generally did everything the teacher didnt encourage. But I never had a teacher encourage me to read the bible I never started reading the bible until I was in my 20s. Sounds like this teacher was insightful!
thanks for your post and may the peace of the lord be with you as well!

She was a teacher in home economics though and she was also involved in this charismatic group in a catholic church. My mom did not allow me to join in her charismatic group though. To put it in my own words, she was so in love with Jesus. She was 50ish and didn't get married. I know few teachers would encourage it though.

Hi David, sorry for late response I missed a day of discussion on here somewhere. I do read the Bible and have many but my daily use Bible is the Spirit Filled Life New King James version. I love it and it explains so much in the extra sections within it. If ever I feel under threat in anyway I will open it on Psalm 91 and I feel ok again. I do not read from cover to cover but chose a book or a section that I feel is relevant to read at the time. Ellie :D

Ellie, Thanks for the post. I am also a day or two behind in my postings and replys. Sounds like you have a very nice and descriptive bible. I like the king james version best as well its more poetic. Its been awhile since I have read Psalm 91 I will go and read it now just for a bit of extra. I can sure use to feel OK again if it works for you maybe it will work for me! Thanks sincerely David :)

Yes, I own a Bible, and read it. I have a King James Bible that I have owned for quite a few yrs. now, and have read it cover to cover a couple of times now. Most of the time during some part of the day you will find me reading a portion of the bible, even if it just a couple of scriptures. For me, a person can never go wrong reading the Bible as "Bible Reading Entriches Any Day."

Yes I've read it from cover to cover, and it didn't do much for me. I couldn't get past the Fact that Science and Religion could not agree. Could Not and Would Not! There was something fishy here I thought! It seemed that Science was coming ahead by leaps and bounds and the bible was turning to Stone(like Lot's wife). Well the upshot of it all was, I gave up Organised Religion and took up a study of Spirituality and Yoga. I'll be 75 in October and for Many Reasons I believe I made the correct decision!

hi.. I'm currently trying to finish reading the whole Bible before the year ends.. and i'm using the New International Version(NIV).. I read at least 2 chapters a day.. I find the bible very helpful for me because it serves as the guide or manual of my life.. also, it is where I find God's promises for me.. The best part is that the Bible renews my relationship with God whenever I feel very down or hopeless reminding me that I can always go back to God whenever wherever..
