Arthritis in dogs

I just got back from taking my dog Norman to the vet and apparently he has arthritis in his left front leg. I have to wait until tomorrow to talk with the vet because of an emergency so I'm not sure if there is any treatment. Does anyone know what can be done for dogs with arthritis? Do they just prescribe pain medicine? If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I'm kinda worried about the big dog. Thanks.

Oh no! I hope your dog is feeling okay. It shouldn't bother him so much since the arthritis is only in the front leg and not the other legs. Anyway, I think the cure would be the same as for human arthritis. Make sure to keep him warm as the cold will make it painful to walk. Norman should also have some vitamins which will strengthen the muscles. I hope you'll be able to give Norman the care that he needs. :)

He's a really sore today, probably from vet visit and the xrays. I was told they had a heck of time getting him on the table, they had to sedate him, poor pup. Anyway, thanks for the advice.
