How to tell your company is too cheap

Most companies are all about saving money and making money, nothing wrong with that. That’s what makes the world go round right? It should be a give and take situation; you get rewarded for being loyal and bringing business. Sometimes though companies have it set in their mission statement that you should be grateful just to have a job. Their mindset might be stuck in the early 20th century. Have you ever thought that the company you worked for makes Scrooge look generous?

I used to work for a company that was great to their employees. They threw parties all the time for the employees for good stats, had holiday dinners, had family days(grilled out, rented either a water park for the day or rides), gave gift cards...great company except for they laid off every summer. I worked for a yearbook company. They used to get mad at me for fixing pictures because they could charge the customers for it. Yearbooks are expensive enough as is :P I've also worked for a company that has decent benefits, but they can transfer you to any store, even if it was an hour away. You don't get mileage or anything, even if its an hour away. They transfered me to a store where I had to pay for parking every day(6-18 dollars a day depending on what was going on and where you could park). You could get a monthly parking pass which was about 10 dollars a day, but with the company you could be there for less then a week. No reimbursement.

No I am very lucky with the company I work for as they have given wo pay rises already this year and we are also able to buy shares at a lower rate. Some do appreciate their employees but not all. I think the more successful ones are the ones that appreciate the people and that automatically creates more productivity and profit so the kind companies win in the long run. Ellie :D

i hate companies like that.. i worked at a couple places where i just watched and watched other employees and the customer getting screwed over.. i had to enforce some of the things too which i hated.. but what can you do? kill or be killed.. i just tried to be in the middle line to where i could live with myself
