Well, I know of a young lady at 16 who still bed wet. I can't understand why she can't go to the bathroom at that age? Do you think there is a problem with her bladder or just lazy to ease herself? I don't know how to help her. She is the daughter of my friend.
Does any of you have problems like this?
Is it normal to some? Please share you experience or your ideas about this.

well speaking from my experience, i am 16 and i still bedwet. It is not laziness, you just dont realize it when you are wetting the bed. After when you get uncomfortable with the wet cold bed, you suddenly wake up and realize you had peed in you bed. I had researched and for a 16 year old to still bedwett is about 1-2% and its very rare. But my parents talked about taking me to the doctors if i ever peed again, its not like i do it on purpose. So i can't help it. But i refuse to go everytime, it is embarasing.
Once i went to sleepover at my friend, Jessica's place and while sleeping i had peed in her bed. I suddenly woke up and there was a huge wet stain on the bed, i got so scared... I looked around and i found her straightner and i strated ironing all the wet spots. Later when she woke up it was dried but the stain was visible and i was too afraid to confront her. I think she understood and didn't ask me anything. Next day when i went over her house, her sheets were changed and from that day i was too scared to meet her mom and dad. But she never spoke of the stains.
I need help!! But i dont want to go to the doctor..
o yes, i only bed wett sometimes maybe once in a month or two. *not intentionally, it just happens*

Im 16 yeras old and I still wet the bed Im not a lazy person at all. I seriuoslt thought I was the only 16 year old still wetting the bed. It is extremly embarassing especially when I go to spend the night at a friends house
I have to be very cautious of my liquid intake. There is no way I would lay there and pee in myself at 16 that is totally disgusting. If there is anyone who can help me please give me some advice or guidance. My mom doesnt know yet but I will have to eventually tell her. She always thinks that I am just being lazy and that is not the truth at all. To anyone struggling with this problem just know that you are not alone. I am going to research this problem on the internet for further verification there has to be a valid medical expalnantion for this dilemma.

There could be alot of reasons.I know I peed the bed until I was 10 or 11 but it was from a very bad experience I had at the age of 6.I was molested by a guy my mom was cheating with when my dad worked graveyard. He came in my room and messed with me and I am 42 yrs old today and still deathly afraid of the dark.I was afraid to move when I went to bed so I would lay there and pee my bed.I would tell your friend to take her to the dr and have the bladder issue checked out otherwise there could be things maybe shes not talking about. If she cant talk to her parents if its not medical reason maybe she would talk to you.Check it out!!! Hope its not anything like that cause its hell to live with but hope it helps.

Yeah.. I think you have good points on this. there might be an underlying causes why she is like that.
Thanks for the suggestions.

That is awful. I think it is eitehr a physical or psychological problem. I wonder why the mom hasnt solved this problem years ago. I dont know what must be going throught their minds.

I would think at 16 no matter how lazy she would go and use the bathroom if she could no teenager would purposefully put themselves in such a situation. However even if she does it on purpose or not she still needs to see a gp to find out why it happening

Maybe, she has psychological problems? Well, it is very rare at this age still bed wet. Maybe the doctor could give advice of what to do with this. she needs to have a physical check up. I;m sure she is embarrassed to sleep in other people's house? Oh!! that's terrible.
I would suggest she should see a doctor.

It could be several things. She may have a sleeping disorder. Her body may go into a stage of sleep that she loses control of her bladder. With my younger child, who sleep walks, we had to stop giving him anything to drink after 7-8pm because he would get up in his sleep and start urinating in places other than the bathroom (i.e. the refrigerator--it's ok to laugh). He didn't remember then and still doesn't to this day. Maybe she is in such a state of unconsciousness that she thinks she is the bathroom. I think the best determination would come from the girls pediatrician. Good luck! :)

I would have her consult a doctor. There is most likely an underlying problem. Either physically with her bladder, or mentally with some kind of stress.
I wouldn't chalk it up to laziness..that would seem highly unlikely, most people don't like laying in a wet bed.

I have never heard of this. She needs to go to a doctor and try limiting beverages after about 7pm at night. This is very uncommon I would think.

i agree, im 16 an i still wet the bed i started at the age of 2 it runs in my family, i havnt grown out of it yet but there are phycological resons why i wet the bed i have been so specialists and it hasnt realy worked for my iv been on medication , tryed the alarm that goes on the bed and goes off it gets wet.
I think that its complety narrow minded for people to say its because Bed wetters are lazy, i cant controll my bladder at night. and as for during the day i do get the urge but its not untill i realy need to go.
there is nothing "wrong" with this girl it merley a case of either growing out of it, seeking medical advice and she has to have a bed time rutine!,.... and i bet you diddnt know that 1 in 4 teenagers wet the bed not nesserily everynight but they do so its not that uncommon! ..... i think you just need to be understanding dont make her feel like shes done somthing wrong or the bed wetting will become worse, iv been wetting the bed for 14 years and my mum has been so understanding she doesnt give me a hard time.....
its simple enough if you wet the bed you buy a plastic bed protecter sheet ... make your bed like normal and if you wett its not big problem you just wash the bedding.
i hope this has helped thank you for your time x

I've never heard of anyone being so lazy as to soil their own clothing and bed. And I've seen a lot of lazy people. lol
I've heard, as I said in another discussion, that people with ADD are more likely to bed wet. That implies it is mental - that they don't get the "notice" to wake up before they go.

Or maybe it was ADHD instead of ADD - I'm not sure which one. It may even be for both.
