My Diswasher Has Just Broken :( I didn't realise how reliant on it I was

I have spent most of the afternoon washing dishes which is fine if you do it as you go along but I had a whole dishwasher load to do, in fact all the glasses are still in the top waiting as I have run out of space on the side. What appliance couldn't you live without? For me it would be an equal draw between washing machine and kettle as I need my cups of tea LOL to wake up in the mornings with.

hi ellie:). I have no dishwasher, but I'd like to have one. I feel like wasting my time when I have to wash my dish. I can do so many other more interesting things intead of this boring activity. But I can't think about living without my washing machine. I had to wash by hand when I moved to new flat lately. It took us about 2 months to buy a washing maschine. It was terrible to wash all clothes by hand. I think it is much worse than washing all the dishes. have a nice day, jazgottt.

I don't want to remember all those hours which I spent washing my clothes by hand. It takes my about an hour to wash few things, and I had to do it quite often, horrible. Such a wastage of time. cheerio, jazgottt.

I agree I can live without the dishwasher but a washing machine is a must especially with a young child changing a few times a day. I must admit once dishwasher on and loaded I come on here but today I couldn't as was placed firmly by the kitchen sink LOL. ELlie :D

Poor you Ellie. Hope that the Fairy Liquid is handy. But what a time for it to happen. The dishwasher would be a near disaster, but the washing machine beats it by a length. We recently had this experience when our old one gave up and its replacement didn't want to play either. It is fine now though. The kettle is another one too. My morning starts with a cup of tea, otherwise grumpiness reigns chez P1ke.

I have never had a dishwasher so I do not know what is like for them to break down! I have a dishwasher in the form of my 16 year old lad, who washes up to earn his keep! If he breaks down then I guess I will know what it was about hee hee. I am sorry though that it has broken down, I hate washing up more than anything and I am sure when I have to do it myself I may invest in a dishwasher LOL

Hi Gemini_rose, I never use to use mine at all it just filled the gap but it is more environmentally friendly believe it or not and I now find it convienent as I put a load on and can then get onto myLot whilst it is doing its cycle. Not this afternoo though as I was tied to the kitchen sink LOL. 16 year olds make good washers too though, I've had them in the past! Ellie :D

Definately, 100% certainly my washing machine. My youngest wears cloth nappies still so I'm doing at least a load a day. I just don't fancy doing that lot by hand!

Microwave! Since we move a lot, we put our nice microwave in storage. When we move to a new place they always seem to have one. Right now, we don't. I can't make popcorn, reheat anything, or heat up soup or spagheteos (sp) for the kids. Good thing I have a gas grill or I would have to throw left over pork chops on the warm sidewalk. Washing dishes is so pioneer of you, do you have your hair in a bun to make it look authentic? :)

Hi MsTickle, my dishwasher actually is so environmentally friendly in that it uses less water and energy to wash a full load thatn it would do to use bowls of hot water. It is even more friendly now as it doesn't work LOL. Ellie :D

Oh I experienced that one a couple of weeks ago and didn't have an online facility for 6 days, it was just so frustrating. I usually pop dishwasher on and then come back to do some myLotting whilst it goes through its cycle, not today though I was at the kitchen sink. Ellie :D

My washer and dryer first...I don't like having to haul them around in the car to go to a laundry mat....to me that would be a waste of time....and my microwave.....I use it more then the stove. I like the quick results I get making a meal with it....

Hi Jill, yes I would miss the washing machine more than the dishwasher, especially with a little one and all his clothes changes in a day, but today instead of putting on and myLotting I was stuck at the kitchen sink LOL. Ellie :D

Our washing machine is giving us trouble again! So I can empathize with you!The newest information from scientists tells us to wash the dishes right away and you will remove most of the germs! Leaving the dishes sit dirty for more than an hour is what causes germs to build up! It also makes it a lot tougher to wash, as soaking will be needed, costing more time and money!

Good day Ellie, I wrote a other reply but wasnt signed in so its lost in cyber space. The one thing I cant live without is a fan. It keeps me cool and most important keeps the bugs away. hope you get your machine fixed or replaced soon. Sometimes it helps to revert to the conventional way just for a short time. Just to remember how and keep from taking things for granted. Happy hand washing. :)LOL. Thanks for helping guide me through my first days on my lot! sinceely David

I know exactly what you mean about not taking things for granted which is why it suprised me so much about how I had become to rely on it really. I usually put on and then come and do some myLotting but I was stuck at the sink instead LOL Ellie :D

hey there ellie333, funny that you mentioned it. We are so dependent machinery nowadays that sometimes we forget how to live without them. How do you live without computers, handphones etc. is almost unthinkable.

Hello ellie my friend. Sorry to hear about your dashwasher had broken down, I know it realy awful when the dirty dishes are piled. My one broke down two years ago, and my mean husband won't buy me another, he said it use too much electric. so I tol him don't eat too often. I do the washing by hand all the time, he is too lazy. Hope you will a good ne Dishwasher. Best of luck. love Tamarafireheart.

Hi Tamarafireheart, LOL, get him to do the dishes for a few days then he will buy you another. They in fact are kinder to the environment as they use less energy and water than washing dishes in hot water in the sink by the bowlful. I will get it sorted but it is not a priority. Ellie :D

washing dishes - washing dishes old fashion way
I don't use washing machine. I do all of my dishes by hand. I would be able to live without my espresso machine. I can not live without my morning coffee. Also, washer and drier are my best friends. I can do my dishes by hand, I have only few per day anyway....

LOL I don't mind by hand it was just the amount (a full load) on this occasion and it took me soooo long. I will try to fix myself over the weekend, can't be much wrong so will go through the process of elimination. Its good to be spoiled sometimes though eh! Ellie :D

I found it hard to live without the dishwasher when i lived at my parents house, but now i live fine without one, i just need to keep the pile of pots down. I lived without a washing machine for 6 months by washing clothes by hand in the sink and bath instead of using a washing machine, so thats manageable just takes alot longer and harder to get stains out. I have a kettle, but without one i could just boil water in a pan on the cooker. I wouldn't definetly need a microwave either because i could just use a cooker. I think a cooker would be the most important thing in the kitchen i couldn't live without. I'd be having to buy food that doesn't need cooking or buy takeaways in all the time. ~Joeys wife

Hi That is amazing that you washed clothes by hand for six months, I would have been off to the launderette at least as I am not very good at hand washing. The dishwasher isn't a priority really but will try to fix myself at some stage. I agree you can boil water i a pan on the stove so yes I guess the cooker is vital as that covers most things eh! Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

There is no such thing that I cannot do without. I have lived all my myself since childhood and have learnt to live without even the barest minimum. However, when it comes to kitchen apppliances I think I couldn't do without my electric kettle. It comes in handy anytime. Did you finish off with your washing? *laughs*

Hi Candee, no the glasses are still to do but I really don't mind by hand it was the amount I had as I had a full machine load. Kettle for me is a must I don't wake up until I have had a couple of cups of tea LOL. I was given the dishwasher two years ago by a neighbour who had moved and didn't have room in their new kitchen for it. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D
