I'm planning to buy a laptop sometime in October. I'm open to any advice and recommendations on laptops.
I dislike Dell, so please don't try and encourage me to buy one.
I'm currently looking and some HP laptops. Oh, and my price range is $900 - $1200.
I want it to have Blu-Ray, 2 - 4 GB of RAM, Duo Core processor (Around 1.5 - 1.9 Ghz), a 256mb+ video card that is dedicated.
Thank you to everyone that replies.

You could check out apple laptops also. I think they are pretty good. They would probably come in handy if you had an Ipod or any othe accesories such as that. I reallly like my Dell, I dont know why you are down on them.

The Apple Laptops are awesome, but to expensive. I only need a laptop for around 3 years. Then I'll be getting a Mac.

I guess I'd recommend HP or possibly Sony Vaio? I've had a Toshiba and that conked out after a year. Now I have a no-name brand that packed in a lot of bang for the buck, but it's been plagued with other problems so I wouldn't recommend going that route. If you want Blu-ray I suspect you might end up wanting to expand your budget? I know it tends to be an expensive component so I'd figure it'd cost more, but you've probably done more recent research than I have. Honestly I'm not even sure it'd be worth it, there's not enough out on Blu-ray to justify it yet, and a small laptop screen couldn't put out the resolution necessary for you to even see the difference between it and standard DVD.
I was looking into a new lappy as well, and my final decision was between HP and Vaio, which offered roughly the same things for the same costs, with a few differences. Everyone I've know with Dells have hated them, so I definitely support your dislike.
