Are you in it for the money, socialising or another reason

When I first came on mylot it was with money making in mind. Then I found that mylot paid pennies and there was a lot of better sites for writers to get paid on. So in the end I stayed on mylot just to take part in the discussions without really giving the money a second thought.
So why did you join mylot, and perhaps more importantly, why have you stayed? It surely cant be for the money, so is for fun, friendship or some other reason?

I joined for the money in the beginning, but I like reading the discussions and stuff as they are interesting and I feel as though I am helping people with their problems and expressing myself, but now I am back to being in it for the money as I have something specific to save up for in mind and this is a great way to make a little extra money.

I think in a typical year I gross something like £1200 - $2000 from various internet earning opportunities and I probably save twice that by getting useful advice and tips from others. It does take a bit of study and effort and I dont think all the opportunities are open to residents of the US or many other countries.
Sounds terribly boastful, sorry if I come over all smug, not my intention, I'm just surprised about the difference I've found between USA and UK in this area. I had thought it would have been the opposite.

Yeah the earnings online are quite small, but ever little bit counts, so far this month I have been paid out £15 and have at least another £10 on the way from selling stuff and I have also reached payout here, so I will be expecting that money next month.

When I joined I saw it was one of the only fun sites to earn some pennies :) But it's fun to have a discussion with other people :)

Is it one of the only fun sites in USA? To be honest, I'm quite amazed at the lack of serious money making online opportunities in the USA. I have found many great opportunities in the UK, too many too keep up with in fact, but stranglely non anywhere else , oh! except one site in Germany but it has a UK arm.

So tell us, just what is this site in the UK where you can make 1,000% more? There might just be someone here in myLot willing to start a similar site in the US. Not me, of course. I wouldn't know the first thing about starting something like that, but someone here might want a business opportunity like that. Of course, I'd join. That is, if it interests me.

Oops, sorry... your statement is 2 responses down. Doesn't matter. I'm sure others are just as curious. Thanks.

I happened to learned about myLot during that time when I was in need of extra cash. At first, I was here for the money. As time went by, I realized that there is more in this site than just earning the money. I started appreciating the discussions posted here by other members. I also began appreciating the friendships I was starting to earn. Now, earning is just secondary for me here at myLot.

Snap! You and me both then. Really, I drop in here for the conversations. I could easily spend all day at a site like this one because of the enjoyment factor and the mental stimulation, but as an earner, without referrals I'd be mad to consider it seriously as I can do 1000% better elsewhere. I just enjoy it here and dont even consider the money part any more. Its a pity its not better though because its a good site with some real interesting people posting on it.

I have taken part in myLot discussions since the day I joined, and I have been paid every month. I know it is not a lot of money but I am getting paid for doing something I enjoy and would want to be doing anyway. I can fit it in with other things I do online.
I would not take part if I did not enjoy myLot so much. I learn a lot from other myLotters, about life, about different lifestyles and different ways some people make extra money on the internet. I have found some useful sites to join and I have read some very funny, and bizarre, news items.
I will continue to visit myLot every day. If I get too busy with other things I will post less, but I will not want to stop taking part.

I found myLot by chance. I thought it was really cool that they pay you for talking, even though it won't make you rich!
I'm here for the comeraderie, friendship, sharing, caring and learning. I have learned a lot since I came here, a little over a month ago. I love this place!
The money is simply a bonus. I surely don't look at myLot as a money-making opportunity. I would be here even if it didn't pay anything. This is a great group of people, so diverse with so much knowledge.

There certainly is a wide range of subject matter. I dont think I know of a site with such diverse topics of conversation. My only bugbear is that I'm never too sure if people are starting a conversation because they are genuinely interested in replies or just to start a topic off with moneymaking in mind. The sums involved are so small anyway. I do tend to look for "friends" postings as I know better what they are about, but I also just wander through the messages respondng as the mood takes me. How about you?

I do both, same as you. When I first log on in the morning, I first look at the responses I got from everyone and respond wherever I feel a response is needed, or warranted.
The second thing I do is go through the new discussions from my 'friends'. If they have a subject that I know I can add to, or I feel is interesting, I will respond to it.
Once that's finished, I select discussions from the list at the left. Right at this moment, the top four are 'human', 'cell phone', 'love' and 'cooking'. I'll look at all but the second one... 'cell phone'. I don't have much interest in cell phones. That's how I pick and choose the random discussions in myLot. I guess it's how most people do it. Of course, every now and then I 'peek' at my emails to see if any friends have posted new discussions.
