I read king james version bible. I think it is the world wide accepted one. My church prescribes it. Are you following this version? If any other version and why? Thank you.

greetings, i read the latin vulgate verison. its older(1855) and i feel its more acturate. i think some of the other translations have lost meaning when they get too many changes in wording and the slant of this society's particular ways of interpertations. GOD is always Great!

greetings, no. the orginal Bible was written in greek and hebrew, latin was the first of the many languages it would become translated into. don't concern yourself with being new to Christianity or the Holy Bible. everybody has to start somwhere. the good news is that YOU have started your journey to our wonderful GOD! do remember that the Bible is Holy because it contains the actual words spoken by JESUS. it is awe-inspiring to think we can know and hold in our hands the knowledge of words and actions comitted by GOD! that is something to think about. Enjoy your journey!

You might want to reconsider your friend request to me ajesh because not only do I not read any Bibles but it is my opinion that people who do read them, looking for a set of rules to follow in their lives, are not too smart. Those books were written in a different language for a different people and a different time. The best guidance available to you is the guidance of your own heart.

Hi zigzagbuddha, I thought exactly like you but when I read the Bible without prejudices, I learnt to know that its word come alive. Of course, they must be interpreted, their meaning must be adapted to contemporary life and situations. First of all you must know that what matters doesn't come from Old Testament cmmands and rules but from the interpretation that Jesus gave them. Want to know why this "set of rules" is valid in all times and places? Read Jesus' word about how to behave, and you will agree: love, no violence, truthfulness, loyalty, independance of material things... thos are eternal principals for humanity.

Hi ajesh, I have read other translations, but the King James has always been my favourite. Many young people today prefer other translations and I don't think that it really matters. When I first began reading the Bible, it was the only version that I knew about, and as I got older I fell in love with the language. It is important that a person understand what they read, and I know people who say they can't understand the King James version. Blessings.

This is rather a complicated issue. Many church prescribe the King James version of the Bible. However what a reader must understand is that this is just a translation. It isn't the "true Bible" or "the one correct Bible". In addition to being a translation it is in English that isn't used much. This makes it difficult for many people to understand. If you aren't getting the point of the Bible then you are waisting your time reading it. This can make other translations much more useful for many readers. In reality, the best option is a few different translations and some Greek and Hebrew dictionaries to learn more about what the Bible says in the original languages.

I use the NIV version, its the same as King James, but its worded where its easier to understand, its hard for me to understand the King James version, our Pastor at our church reads out of the King James tho, he explains it where its easier to understand too.

I read several translations at home and compare. Most of the time I can read one verse in KJ and not understand, but read it another and do. I do it for me to understand and learn more.

I'm reading the NIV version. That's quite easy to understand. I like the King James Version too. I use that for bible study.
