My way of releasing stress is by singing karaoke loudly and when i say loud i mean really LOUD. And i usually choose songs that suits my emotion at the time and usually when i am stressed I choose high-notes song and usually it's an emotional song. I feel better after screaming my lungs out. Dancing is also a nice way to release stress.

Meditation and deep breathing has done wonders for me. I used to not even be able to sit quietly for even 5 minutes, and back when I thought that I needed to 'meditate' for hours I gave it up because it was like phuck that, it's not gonna happen.
Then I read somewhere that 15 minutes a day was all that was really necessary and so I gradually worked up to being able to do that. I would just sit somewhere that I was comfortable and focus on doing deep abdominal breathing, with a timer set, and before I knew it I was doing it easily. And it has paid off, because now I don't even have to meditate anymore, if I get stressed out over something all that it takes to bring me back to my calm 'center' is a couple of deep breaths.
You say that you can't because of ADD and asthma, but that's even more of an indication that it's needed.
And Yoga works phenomenal wonders on both the psyche and the body. It strengthens and realigns the body and calms the mind.
Poise, strength, and self-control are such delicious feelings... and well worth the discipline that it takes to master the exercises that produce them.
Additionally, I say to you that trying to resist the feeling of being stressed will only make matters worse. It might sound corny, but embrace it. Pretend you're a heroine in a very tense movie or something, and act the way she would act, hehehe, works for me anyway!

I don't know if you are familiar with astrology at all, but my rising sign is Virgo... the worrier of the zodiac. I have worried about EVERYTHING my entire life until only recently. I'd give myself hives and had all sorts of compulsive behavior in an attempt to calm down my hyper hyper feelings. I was also very much into 'self-medication', if you catch my drift.
Then I read somewhere that worrying is using the mind to create what you don't want. Now when I find myself starting to worry about something I ask myself 'is this what I want to happen?' If not then I immediately move my attention to what it is that I DO want and look for the feeling of relief. Sometimes I had to do that every 2 minutes, and sometimes I'd be worrying about something, because it had become such a habit, for 30 minutes, or even days, before I would catch myself!!
I also use cannabis therapeutically... it has been an excellent tool for me to discover the inner workings of my mind. I'm not suggesting that would work for you, I'm just relating what has worked and does work for me.
Things don't usually change dramatically overnight, especially habits that you have been practicing for a lifetime... when they do some sort of trauma is usually involved, hehehe... but with a bit of practice improvement comes gradually, and when it does it is stable.
Thanks for the BR!

I know that this may be considered as aromatherapy but it is very strong and I Think that it might help. It's called Thereapeutic and can be found at Wal Mart. It has a smell of peppermint, lavendar as well as one other indgredient I can't remember. It really makes you sleepy. Have a Great day.

No it's pretty strong. I don't think you would like it then, but if you see it at wal*mart it won't hurt to look. It's in a pump bottle, clear with a cream color to it.. maybe cream caramel.

I take Hyland's Nerve Tonic. It's Homeopathic little pills that melt under your tongue. It makes me really relaxed and I can be happy and have fun in just about any situation.
A bottle lasts a long time and it costs less than $10 (I don't remember exactly)
They have it at places that sell organic groceries.
I highly recommend it. It works and it's safe enough that even children can take it.

I have problems with my adrenal glands and I have to keep myself as unstressed as possible. One thing that helps me is to realize when I am being stressed and calm myself down mentally. Someone else mentioned breathing exercises and that also helps. It's a lot like meditation in that you sit still and concentrate on your breathing. I've also found that cutting out the caffeine and eating more fruits and vegetables are a great help if you aren't doing that already. And, recently, I started doing Yoga, but I have to say it's not for everyone. I got a DVD that is designed for people who are not very flexible.

Meditation helps you out the most from what I've heard. I've never tried it because I don't think I can actually completely center myself, lol. Except for playing guitar, that really centers me. I think that's why people take up yoga, which I have no interest in.

Pesonally, a walk in nature helps me. It's a time to get away from everyone and everything and just enjoy the beauty that we often miss everyday. I also love to type and this is the BEST "therapy" I've found. I started keeping a journal on the computer. I tell about my feelings, what happened during the day, or if I'm angry with someone, I type all of it as I would be telling this person how I feel. Type as much as you can. Re-read it if you need. If you have issues with people that you would rather not confront, this is a great way to "release". Try it out and let me know if it works.
